Before you jump on the SAMR bandwagon, give this a read. I wrote in a previous post my thoughts on how the SAMR model degrades/demeans meaningful technology based learning activities and directs teachers to think of their use of technology as insufficien…
8 SAMR examples. However, note that each example starts with a traditional assignment rather than a goal. The focus on product is another thing about SAMR that I don't like. Wouldn't it be better to start with a goal and then choose the tool(s) that best serve the goal, tech or not? It seems to me that what redefinition really means is coming up with a more robust and worthwhile goal. I'd rather just start with the goal and UDL Guidelines and select tech as an option that helps achieve the goal and meets the Guidelines.

Adam Foster of @iPadTeachers has written an excellent guide to using Book Creator in the classroom. 99¢ on the iBooks Store and well worth it. You could do Book Creator activities with your class or workshops for educators for years with the number of ideas packed into this tutorial. Many subject areas. Many of the activities include App Smashing ideas.
