Wordpress is a free and open-source software package originally designed for blogs but is also now used for websites, forums, and social networks. It lets programmers make plugins and themes and lets them distribute them for free or for pay. After reading through their documentation and examples in high school, I've used it to create several websites for clients -- free to me, and I can charge for my labor. Over the years it's gotten easy enough for almost anyone to put together with some effort and patience. It's putting the power of next-level internet content production into the hands of everyone, and it's getting easier every year.

As artisans come together to make up fairs and street markets, local culture can be found through the many mediums we can see on display; from paintings to jewelry artisans are able to display and even sell art to those interested (locals, tourists etc)

The Pocket is a student run organization that helps students craft their artistic visions on the stage. Each quarter, roughly 4-6 shows are produced in the Pocket, completely under the direction and operation of students. Many productions are original, some are new renderings of old classics, and some are obscure offerings seldom seen on stage, but they all come from the vision of directors, actors and designers just like you! The Pocket Playhouse aims to provide an arena for students to get involved in all aspects of theatre regardless of prior experience.

I played in a small group of strings and percussion with a pocket play, once! It was definitely a unique experience.

DC Beer Week is a celebration of good beer in the National Capital Region from conception to consumption and everyone and everything in between. DC Beer Week also aims to educate all on good beer through various events and seminars from August 17th through the 24th. #DCBW2014

Redskins Nation is a half-hour show devoted to giving fans unfiltered access to the day's events at Redskins Park. Hosted by Larry Michael, the show features Redskins players, coaches and sit-down interviews with team officials. (Show re-airs at 11:30 p.m/7:30 a.m. daily)

Shapeways has been around for a few years and has gained a lot of traction since 3D printing has gotten more common. It lets 3D artists upload their 3D model and sell it in a variety of materials to whoever wants it. It's sort of like Etsy of 3D printing, except the artist designs it and Shapeways processes the customer's payment, 3D prints it, and ships it. The artist gets some money and Shapeways probably gets more, but they have really high-caliber 3D printers so that's okay. They can also cast your model in metals, including gold and silver, which is something that can't be done yet with a home 3D printer.

The Oregon Voice is the best completely student-run magazine on campus because it is the only completely student-run magazine on campus. We get to print what we want and that's what makes it cool. We're always looking for contributors of writing or art, so if you'd like to get involved, feel free to apply!

This was an absolutely incredible experience. Watching the trailer opened my eyes to how a fire could affect a family and the emotions from the film really hit me hard especially when they were searching through the rubble trying to find things to salvage and the look on their faces. I found it interesting that she was finding herself and creativeness through the shadow boxes after the fire "freed" her from the duties of being domestic wife. It also illustrates the struggles a family if one wants to have a creative, art filled life and still lead a traditional family life. I cannot wait to watch the entire movie when it comes out. For me the film raises the questions: do we really need a traditional family in this day and age to feel complete and how does our relationships affect the "true" you?
