May marks the return of our Concert Production Workshop series! This series will cover the ins and outs of putting on a live concert from both the venue and performer perspective. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about all that goes into putting on a live concert. From booking and promotion to production and band etiquette, these workshops will introduce you to the world of concert production taught by professionals in the field. Whether you are a musician or a fan, a casual observer or a college professor this will strive to give you a spectrum of knowledge for event planning and production as well as the occasional foray into abstract concepts of sound and light. We encourage both adults and youth age sixteen and up to participate. This week's focus on media, technology and creative practices shines the light on the many apps we use and sometimes even overlook. We see the intended purpose the creators meant for the app and its many other uses.

PicLab HD is a nifty app for creating those inspiring images that you get all over the internet these days. You know, the ones featuring a photo - probably with at least one retro filter applied - with a helpful aphorism layered over the top in an attractive, friendly typeface. Yeah, those. PicLab HD makes them an absolute doddle, enabling you to either snap a photo or grab one from your photo library, then go to town on it. As well as adding typography - lots of fonts and full control over size, positioning, opacity, rotation, and colour - you can also layer illustrations, ornamentation and other design elements on top of your image. PicLab HD features full layer-based editing and also packs plenty of tools for making your original photo look its best, with loads of lighting and film effects to choose from as well as preset photo filters and adjustment tools for fine tuning the brightness, contrast, exposure, saturation, and the blur level of your photos.

This is the last thursday of May art opening at the Goodfoot featuring artists such as Ali Schlicting, Christopher Kelleher, and Julie Costanzo. These artists focus a lot on abstract contemporary artworks, which are very unique and colorful. Ali states she was trying to convey a story through her artwork. Christopher was trying to capture light in different manners on figures. Julie incorporates oil paintings into her works, clearly giving a diverse range of meticulously chosen artworks for a great show.
