What do you do?

boxee allows you, the developer, to create applications to extend its content and functionality. Whether it's local or web-based we hope you'll turn boxee into exactly what you've always wanted in a media center (and share it with the rest of us!). With that in mind we've put together this document to help you get started building apps for boxee. If you've got questions please feel free to search our forums. Applications can be downloaded and installed from the Boxee Applications Directory using the Boxee client from the Settings -> Applications menu.

It's an addictive little habit, that Twitter. But what if there were ways for you to still keep your ugly tweeting habit while staying productive at the same time? Since I can't fully support the total indulgence in the tool that has the tech-world (and beyond) glued to their favorite Twitter client, I thought I would share a few very useful ways to make the service much more productive while you're living inside of it.

Facebook seems to get more similar to FriendFeed every day. The latest, the addition of an "I like this" link on News Feed items, is one of the more significant challenges to the lifestreaming service yet, as it essentially duplicates a major component of what makes FriendFeed tick - a simple, one-click display of indicating your liking of a specific item in a stream of activities and a view of all of the other people that have also liked it.

Google has already indicated that it plans to offer a platform for Chrome browser extensions, but now we finally have what looks like a firm date on when that will arrive. Apparently, a Google developer conference scheduled for May 27th will include a session on developing extensions for Chrome

Microblogging refers to the posting of very short updates about oneself. It is in contrast to long-form blogging, where there are usually at least a few hundred words. Microblog posts usually involve a few hundred characters or less. Instead of posting a message on their regular blog, people who microblog use Web services designed to make microblogging very easy.

We once did a poll asking people what their favorite CMS was. WordPress was a run-away winner, but also got many comments of "WordPress isn't a CMS!!". Well clearly, in the strictest sense, WordPress is a CMS as it "manages content". But is WordPress really only suited for blogging, or can it be used for more traditional non-blog sites? In this screencast I attempt to show off a number of WordPress features that make it very "CMS-like" in my opinion. Including page templates, dynamic menus, parent-child relationship pages, and using posts as ancillary content.

Google has added Audio indexing ability - called GAudi - that allows it to crawl videos and figure out what they are about. GAudi is currently in Google Labs, but will undoubtedly be improved and make long term changes to search moving forward.
