This is an interesting find, when you read the lyrics you realise how little sense they make. Perhaps this demonstrates how its not just music that is important for an artist to make it in the industry. Rihanna for example could sing anything and still make hits perhaps this is because or her risqué performances and outfit choices. It is interesting when you said have you ever listened and thought "wait what did they say" in all honestly I don't I just sing the song without questioning the lyrics, perhaps because the song is in the charts by a popular artist therefore it must be good!

Here is a new interview with Miley Cyrus posted by the NY Daily News. In it, Miley shares information about the "Wrecking Ball" shoot. Interesting read, I'd say; contains details I didn't know about the making of the music video.

I think this article is really interesting but at the same time it makes me view Miley Cyrus is a skeptical light. I feel that she's often contradicting herself, making all her shock and awe tactics seem, to me, to be a very childish and not very well thought out publicity stunt.

This is an old article on when Katy Perry was named woman of the year back in 2012. I found this article interesting though because in her speech Perry makes statements saying that she isn't a Feminist but she believes in strong women. The author of the article also states that Perry was named Woman of the Year because she has been quiet and doesn't make any complaints.

Upon finding this video i thought it was quite interesting in relation to our popular culture class. Whilst social media is part of popular culture this video, 'musicalised' Twitter! In part it is satirising what twitter has become in that people write about absolutely anything and so we are becoming 'fools', also that the celebrity world (such as Lady Gaga vs Perez Hilton) can be watched in your home and you don't even have to leave your bed! However it also emphasises the positives of social media where everyone is now  ''connected far and wide''and that the world is intertwined. Therefore the message presented is that twitter is what you make it.

Since this weeks readings are on authenticity, I thought I'd share this music video by the band Foster The People which takes a rather comical approach to issues of authenticity, by having the studio executive struggling to find a way to make the band play a show even after they have died. 

I thought this was an interesting article in relation to pop culture and how authentic things have become, especially with the introduction of new technologies such as auto-tune and music sampling and editing. The article goes deeper into these. Thus those who want to make a imprint on the industry as the article states is going to be increasingly difficult because ''even the most sincere expressions of self will have to be multiple and complicated''.

In an interview this month with HungerTV, Cyrus stressed that she's in control of her image and the choices behind her music videos. She made an important point that she's probably more aware of what youth cultures want than corporate leaders are. But in order to make this point, she had to draw on stereotypes of a Jewish-controlled media, perhaps revealing anti-Semitism: "With magazines, with movies, it's always weird when things are targeted for young people yet they're driven by people that are like 40 years too old. It can't be like this 70 year old Jewish man that doesn't leave his desk all day, telling me what the clubs want to hear."

This is probably the WORST article for someone like me to read. Purely because I just LOVE Taylor Swift and couldn't hate Miley Cyrus anymore if I tried. Whoever wrote this is obviously just basing their facts off of the stuff that is touched upon in the media, particularly in relation to the songs Taylor Swift writes. 1. Oh Taylor's songs lack depth? And Miley's don't? Turn on the radio and listen to some of the trash they call 'music' on there and then come back and say that again. Yes, she writes about breakups but at least she can say that she experienced her songs unlike the crap that most popular artists sings who's lyrics were practically pulled out of a hat and strung together. 2. Not ALL her songs are about how she was victimized by her exes, they just so happen to be the ones that make it to the charts. For example, 'Back to December' was written about her previous relationship with Taylor Lautner and that she was wrong for hurting him etc. 'Better Than Revenge' is claimed to be about Camilla Belle after she quickly hooked up with Joe Jonas after he and Taylor split. Her first hit and most famous song 'Love Story' isn't even about a break up! 3. People criticize that Taylor is predictable because she only writes songs about break ups, well if that's so then why doesn't the public gather together and get her non-breakup songs on the charts? Why? Because they prefer the breakup ones. 4. Miley is a self-absorbed, loud, ex Disney star who is trying to break away from her Hannah Montana image and is only making her image worse.

On her show, Wendy Williams discusses racial appropriation, and how Miley Cyrus and others, have "picked up" black culture in order to be cool and make money, and then have the privilege of putting black culture away and return to whiteness when they're older.

I thought this was interesting because Fall Out Boy is creating music videos for all of the songs on their new cd and they are all supposed to be connected as one story. At the moment 6 of the 11 have been made. This is the first.

Wow, that's really neat that they're making videos for all of the songs. I don't know of other bands that have done that before... but maybe I'm just out of the loop, haha. Anyway, I also like how the videos are all connected; that's something I'd like to see other bands and/or artists do!

I love that FOB is making a mini movie out of this album. I would say one of the most successful comebacks in awhile!

This article in xxl magazine discusses rapper Childish Gambino's recent Instagram pictures, handwritten notes explaining his fears, "I'm afraid of the future" for example, and how this "real" moment affects the potential of his forth coming album, and whether it makes him seem more genuine or not

One of my friends just posted this on Facebook. It talks about this new trend of younger girls posting videos on YouTube to get validation on being pretty or not. I didn't get thought the whole article because my laptop is going ot dye in like 3 minutes! But check it out, it's pretty interesting and the include some videos that the girls make. 

There's a new rumor spreading around about Miley Cyrus: Apparently, Cyrus has been dating Theo Wenner (an ex-boyfriend of Liv Tyler) since summertime. While this article doesn't necessarily deny nor confirm the rumor, the author does make a point of acknowledging a friendship between the two. I don't know about you guys, but personally, I'd be impressed if they really have been dating and getting away with it staying under wraps for so long; ergo, I doubt the rumor is true. Still, it's possible!

I feel like Miley Cyrus would let people belive anything if it maintained her publicity. I think she would do little to confirm or deny rumours such as these as they allow her to remain in the spot light. I think it is a shame that she is becoming more artifical everyday and making music is no longer her number one prority; being in the spotlight for any reason now appears to be her claim to fame.

This video is from Key and Peele's show. I think this video can be relevant to Thursday's class, when we talked about Macklemore and his song, Same Love.  It's obviously supposed to be funny, but just the fact that Key and Peele are both black makes for an interesting twist.
