This study looked at the idea that numerous forms of child abuse would influence lower social support for women and a higher level of stress during adulthood, later causing depression or post-traumatic stress disorder.

Tyler, Kimberly A., Katherine A. Johnson, and Douglas A. Brownridge. "A Longitudinal Study of the Effects of Child Maltreatment on Later Outcomes among High-Risk Adolescents." A sample was taken from 360 students that examined the effects of childhood abuse, parenting and well-being through running away and school involvement. Results showed that parenting had a direct involvement with school engagement, running away and well-being. Neglect during childhood was related to abuse while sexual abuse and living in a disadvantaged neighborhood were left with worse well-being. Running away was definately associated with participation in violent activities. Gender also moderated the relationship with running away and abuse in favor of females.

Web. 18 Nov. 2010. Developmental effects in relation to traumatic life like sexual abuse will not affect all people attacked. Twelve out of forty-five respondants that experienced abuse before the age of 22 said that their life was affected in a positive way. People exposed to abuse showed more adversity in adulthood rather than those who were not exposed. More studies are needed to underst8and the true complexity of the situation.

Web. 22 Nov. 2010. This article looked at the relationship between adolescents and alcohol advertisements. There are many forms of alcohol advertising including at sporting events and on television. The advertisements affected the different age groups of teens different. Alcohol advertisement has an impact on the development of adolescents.

This article describes how movies and commercials including alcohol impact adolescents to drink. The study was to expose some people to the media and compare the results to the people not exposed. On average those teens exposed drank more alcohol than those not exposed.

They concluded that media exposure of alcohol increases the likelihood adolescents will drink.

This article addresses the television programs the public watches. The study analyzed the content of the show and how the messages was often based on alcohol. Their were both verbal and non verbal messages in the programs. Most of the messages are mixed and the way the alcohol is presented is often different.

It compares how the elderly use and think of computers to how teens and middle aged people think of computers. It also shows us how much a computer would be of use to an elderly person, and how good it would be for them to have. It helps us more understand how we think of computers and how much an elderly person thinks the same.

It shines a new light on the age old thought that senior citizens do not like computers, they may just not know how to use them.

The screen of the computer is where the six buttons are located, and this computer is designed for the elderly person to be able to search the web with ease. The new computer is called a "simplicITy."

After this introduction it moves into the steps of how to slowly integrate the senior citizen to their knew computer. It is a five step process that will improve a senior citizens life, and make them fluent with their computer.

They found that after having these out that college students tended to go to the more healthy options when they actually realized what they were. They concluded that not only did this short term effect work but that the college students did not know what their healthy options were and therefore were happy to be notified.

Coming out of the experiment students claimed to know more about nutrition and that having a graduate student as their teacher helped them learn. They said this because of their image and likeness to them. The outcome of this experience was a greater understanding of nutrition and advance in this field.

This is more of a pro-help article, where some of the other articles are just condeming the fact that the senior citizens have trouble with computers, and they offer no way to help this issue. Overall this is a positive article which offers insight to the issue of senior citizens and their troubles with computers.
