The study was to see how the incorporation of technology affected to students academic performance. The mix of books and technology was to see which way of teaching is more efficient. Since kids grew up with technology it was an easy transition for them to use the PDAs.

It tells the story's of multiple people who have disabilities that are still able to be literate, one story in particular is about Helen Keller. It goes on to tell how certain special needs educational institutions do not teach their students to read. One teacher was quoted saying "I don't have to worry about it [teaching reading]. My student's aren't readers and never will. This article provides a defense to why people with disabilities should not be deprived of the right to be literate.

It goes on to say that children are naturally wired to sounds and rhythms so at a young age it can be used to establish rhyming patterns in areas of reading and writing. Music can be a way to remember stories and learn more about the world. Repetition of songs enhances emergent literacy. The article also says music and print language are similar.

Harvard is looking into if this is a good idea to do because they are having a hard time figuring out why males excel in math compared to females.

Articals teaches how music can be used as a "technology" towards health healing and recovery. Study was conducted on 22 people ages 34-65 with long term illnesses and diseases. 

This article acknowledges the growing prevalence of instant messaging and text messaging in today's society. It reveals the two different beliefs of how these new forms of communication affect writing. One belief is that it has caused a "breakdown of the English language" from the use of abbreviations and lack of punctuation. The second is that students have been encouraged to write more and that it is helping them practice their literacy skills. These technologies can be used as learning tools, but the problem is that students have a hard time distinguishing when to use informal and when to use formal writing. The challenge now is how to teach children how to use this new tool for literacy.
