Moving at the Speed of Creativity | Block Video Ads in YouTube - 0 views

  •
"Have you noticed how recently, more advertisement videos in YouTube have started to auto-play without prompting? I've noticed this is happening on other websites as well, in addition to YouTube. Since I often seem to have about 50 different tabs open in my web browser, this can present a challenge trying to find WHICH tab has the offending / playing video in it. It's an irritating and unnecessary problem to tolerate. I needed a way to block these video ads in YouTube and elsewhere."

I love teaching this class over H.323 videoconferencing from my house! Tonight we focused primarily on creating narrated slideshows and screencasts. Following class, I used the iPad apps Haiku Deck, Mail, Explain Everything, PhotoSync, and YouTube Capture to create and publish a seven minute narrated slideshow I titled, "MinecraftEDU Tips (Jan 2014.)" I provided some additional background about how I made this in my post tonight on our class blog."

Makey Makey Will Make You Love The "Internet Of Things" | Fast Company | Business + Inn... - 0 views

  • Makey Makey is a little circuit board that comes with a set of alligator clips. You can attach them to anything even mildly conductive (a body part, a glass of water, alphabet noodles, paper clips, Play-Doh, or fruit for example) and use that thing to control your computer as though you were hitting the keyboard or moving the mouse. The device plays well with the Arduino in case you want to attach it to simple sensors.

Moving at the Speed of Creativity | Hopscotch Challenges: A Free Curriculum eBook for i... - 1 views

  •
"This week I started introducing my 4th and 5th grade STEM students to coding with the free iPad app, Hopscotch. I was not able to find a set of "challenges" with Hopscotch to use in my lessons, so I wrote and published a short eBook that I've titled, "Hopscotch Challenges." You can download it (FREE) in ePUB format from my DropBox account. Please check it out, share feedback as comments here or on Twitter (@wfryer), and submit additional ideas for challenges to add to the eBook using the Google form I included in it."
