Digizen.org's documentary film on Cyberbullying produced by Childnet International. Includes teacher's guide and lesson plan. The film is based on a composite of real events using professional actors. It depicts the story of a teenager who becomes the target of bullying via the Internet and by his mobile phone. The film shows a number of ways that cyberbullying can occur, who it involves, and how it can affect different people (including the teacher, who is in this film also subject to humiliation).The film and teacher's guide are designed for classroom or assembly use.

The pupils at Franklin Middle School tapped into real-life experiences as they filmed "The Stories of Us," a 25-minute movie being sold to American schools as part of a new anti-bullying program. They wrote, produced and acted in the film, which many educators say looks more like a documentary than make-believe. Fabulous School Assembly Program! Although the team is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, they travel and give presentations nationwide. They bring a sense of balance to all of the predator-based talks given by law enforcement. The creators of this project are graduates of Stanford's Learning, Design & Technology program and also have a background in film making. They have won numerous awards at local, national and international film festivals for their work and were a huge hit at the California League of Middle Schools Conference, last Fall.

"The court has no difficulty in concluding that one student filming another student standing behind a teacher making 'rabbit ears' and pelvic thrusts in her direction, or a student filming the buttocks of a teacher as she bends over in the classroom, constitutes a material and substantial disruption to the work and discipline of the school. "The 'work and discipline of the school' includes the maintenance of a civil and respectful atmosphere toward teachers and students alike -- demeaning, derogatory, sexually suggestive behavior toward an unsuspecting teacher in a classroom poses a disruption of that mission whenever it occurs.

Sony Creative Software Contest- Winner, School Video Category [Cyberbullyiing Public Service Announcement ]

Lyndon B. Johnson Elementary. Background info from Marvin Jiminez, Director. I decided to enter the contest for two reasons. First, being one of the poorest school districts in the city, I felt our students would greatly appreciate the software prizes to use in sharing their stories in a visual manner. Second, this project would be my directorial debut. I really enjoyed directing this project and seeing it come to life from an idea to film. The students who volunteered as talent really did an exceptional job and were very fun to direct. The project itself took approx. 20 pre-production hours, 6 production hours, and 8 post-production hours. The title I decided to use is "Words Sometimes Really Do Hurt".

Turned in March 4th, 2010 for STN (Student Television Network Convention) at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. There was a limit of six hours to make a 30 second PSA (Public Service Announcement.) The topic was "cyberbullying." Supervised editing took place and the film was shot, edited and finished before deadline.
