Lesson 2 (Education Technology Integration) - 0 views

    • Mary Jones

Hi, Good usage of collaboration tools to create an effective learning environment. Collaborative learning is a plus in Constructivism. Zotero is a tool that I personally havent heard of until now. This assignment has already taught me something. Also, good idea to include tutorials as some students, as myself, may not have had any exposure to these type of tools.

      Thanks.

You have great tutorials incorporated in your lessons. This is an intersting site. Good job.

      Thanks Dennis

This is a great idea for a lesson. I like the way you clearly state the objectives. I don't see an assessment rubric but the objectives can serve for that. You might include a time frame.
    • anonymous

Sure Christie, a time frame would be great, its a weakness that I will rectify next time I have a similar assignment.

Technology Integration - Posttest Survey - 0 views

Your Post - Test survey is similar to your begining survey. It will be interesting to see the results from both surveys and make comparisions. Good Job!

Great observation...its a measure of what they have gained from the unit. E.g. are they responding to a question differently from the way they responded earlier?

Excellent survey. Very helpful to understand what a person knows prior to starting

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY INDICATORS ISSUES FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION - 1 views

  •
The "Partnership on Measuring ICT for Development", which includes the ITU, the OECD, UNCTAD, UNESCO Institute for Statistics, the UN Regional Commissions (ECA, ECLAC, ESCAP, ESCWA), the UN ICT Task Force and the World Bank, provides an open framework for coordinating ongoing and future activities, and for developing a coherent and structured approach to advancing the development of ICT indicators globally, and in particular in the developing countries.

I read the article, Media Literacy: Collaborating to Create Media-Savvy Young People | Edutopia, and it is so great .Learning that is student centered, fun, creative, and socially interactive is ideal, and I've experienced this type of learning at the junior college I attended. It felt like a gift of such a great and personal magnitude and I got to thinking about those who never get a chance to experience that feeling.

L7 Discussions - 2009 Fall ETC647 - 6 views

  • Have to make extra efforts to log on Vista to view and to visit each course to view announcements separately. (
    • Amber Bryant

I would rather my announcements all appear on one page rather than viewing them separate.
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

I agree. Unfortunately, most CMS do not offer such feature. If all courses apply Twitter as announcement application. It would be one place for all announcements.
    • Moussa Tankari

I think having all the announcements in one place is good to keep everyone in group posted. Twitter works like an alert system, so to speak. I like it.
  • Get connected anywhere and anytime
    • Amber Bryant

Unless there is no service LOL
    • Dallas McPheeters

Satellite phones are what National Geographic writer John Bowermaster uses, from very remote parts of the planet. :-)
    • Amber Bryant

Satellites are everywhere=) Internet services offered though satellite appear to be slower than DSL... but companies say faster than dial-up connections. The cost is another consideration.
    • Mary Jones

Hmmm interesting. I stay in the country and was thinking about getting Hughes Net...guess not. I think one thing the government should do is make all these tools that will be the foundation of our interaction as a society able to be accessed. This would require some work, but Smartphones have become more than just a tool for everyday conversation, it is now a tool for educators, CEOs,etc.
    • Susan Lamparter

This is increasingly important as each day the world becomes smaller. We all look to be Internet connected no matter where we are....a park, riding a train to work...vacation. It is all about instant communication.
  • takes a little time to figure it out because it is an unusual platform
    • Amber Bryant

The tutorila helps a lot if you are having trouble figuring out the features.
  • ...15 more annotations...
  • Excellent potential as a CMS. Time saving for students who can create collaborative notes and more.

Is Google Wave compatible with any CMS?
    • Dallas McPheeters

Yes but it's a new platform that will require more community generated apps, widgets, gadgets, etc. to broaden its compatibility.
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Do you which CMS is compatible with Wave? I am on NAU CMS evaluation committee. I would like to bring Wave compatible issue to the committee. If you know anything else, please do share with me.
    • Dallas McPheeters

Google wave would not be embedded or added to a CMS. Rather, Wave could be the CMS itself. More plugin gadgets will be required for the admin requirements but the rest is already there. SAAS is releasing a competing product next February. There will be many such applications soon. The NAU committee should go open source and save the small fortune spent on subscription services. Happy to assist if you need me. I served on the Technology Taskforce at TUSD (2nd largest district in the State) last year.
  • Easy access and managementCan be quickly implemented
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Can Blogger embedded in any CMS?
    • Amber Bryant

Most say Wordpress is better... and that blogger cannot be embed in some CMS
  • c mitchell
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Could you be more specific on unusual platform?
  • MindMeister.com
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Does it have gadget, widget, or apps for different access?
    • Dallas McPheeters

Not yet. brand new but powerful for businesses who wish to upgrade to subscription model and allow collaboration on maps.
  • Easily linked to traditional CMS
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Which CMS has wiki?  Can we embed Wetpaint wiki on any CMS?
    • Dallas McPheeters

      Moodle.
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

I see. Any other CMS? Sakai?
  • 1. Linked to CMS2. Administrator management options
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Russ, Could you explain how to bring Flickr into CMS?  I think our classmates would like to learn this technique.
    • Dallas McPheeters

I like the idea of using http://blog.flickr.net/en as a Flikr blog where images tell the story. Collaborative ideas anyone?? :-)
    • Amber Bryant

Just started utilizing Flickr (used Photobucket before) so not very familiar with all the components. I did create a group a few weeks ago. Seems user friendly.
    • Dallas McPheeters

Amber, you might like using Posterous.com which allows posting right from your browser to "all" your online accounts with one click, including Flickr! Check it out. Very handy I'm finding. I locate something worth posting and with one button in my firefox browser, I can post to twitter, facebook, flikr, my blogs, EVERYWHERE. It's really powerful I think.
  • bject to unwanted comments3. Subject to copy right infringement.
    • Chih-Hsiung Tu

Does it have gadget, widget, or Apps for different access?
  • Limited accessibility
    • Matt Romanoski

How do you mean limited accesibility? I found that I could access our 647 wetpaint site from more access points than my Vista account. I liked the option of being able to access quite easily through my phone and also to monitor through my iGoogle PLE. Are you speaking in terms of difficult to access from a CMS?
    • Mary Jones

Are you referring to access of the content as far as organization or are you referring to external factors in reference to location? Thanks.
    • Douglas Fitzpatrick

I found Delicious bookmarking a great way to keep track of important references. Julie, you are very right about the necessity of using tags.
  • People may not have Smart Phones.
    • Adrianna Coronel

I also find this a weakness. I was introduced to Twitter this semester and I had to use my daughter's phone to submit my first assignment. I enjoyed using a smart phone and found it so convenient that I went and bought one for myself.
    • Mary Jones

I agree. I still dont have a Smartphone and feel behind. Hopefully one day I will be able to indulge in this form of communciation.
    • Susan Lamparter

Smart Phones will become standard just as laptop are now common place. Remember when cell service was very spotty? Guess I am dating myself.
  • minimal formatting options
    • Mary Jones

Hi are you referring to the tools that are present in Microsoft Word, etc? If so, I agree that it doesn't offer enough individual creations. There are some limitations in this tool. I personally feel that it will not replace the popular word processing programs unless it includes the tools that allow for individualized creation.
    • Dennis Marsollier

Your right, it will not replace them yet, but it is matter of time if cloud computing is really here to stay.
  • Too distracted.
    • Susan Lamparter

Easy to get off track with mundane posts.
  • ocuments, spreadsheets, presentations, and forms- many users can edit content simultaneously- can invite users to view vs. edit- integrates with other Google programs- can access everywhere- gadgets- user friendly- can upload as Word, Excel, PPT, PDF, etc. document
    • Dennis Marsollier

This by far a wonderful tool for online collaboration. I have emjoyed working with this tool. My collarborations have been very effiecient.
  • Some gadgets are better than others.
    • Dennis Marsollier

There are some very useful gadgets, but unfortunately there are some very bad and trashy gadgets as well. You really need to know how to select some gadgets as some work better than others as well.
  •
I prefer the all-in-one feature rather than having to travel from place to place to hunt for announcements and updates.
