This module is the real assessment to see if learning occurred. It includes a vast amount of tools that have been discussed and a few that require discovery, which is realistic when it comes to emerging technologies. There will be some tools you want to use before you begin a workshop. It is very challenging yet rewarding in my opinion.

This learning module really embraced the creativity of the individual using web-based tools and software. Camtasia is quite popular and is being used in various sectors of society as well. This module is more difficult than the previous due to the progressive format of this unit.

In this module, I wanted to introduce the learners to modern-day usages of technology that have had a great impact in various sectors of society, including education. Students would be in charge of their own learning and would also be involved in numerous productions.

This module was an introduction to the philosophy because I believe everything originates in thought. Having this module provided a foundation for what was to come.

This introduction module was a way for the students to get an introduction of the tools they would be using in the unit. Although the tools wouldnt be used right away, it was imperative to create these accounts early during the unit to avoid confusions and frustration.

A syllabus was used in this unit because the unit was more focused towards higher education instructors and educators. I felt this provided a good introduction to the content. It could have actually been included in the Introduction.

This section could have been more appealing. Maybe a picture that would signify what this unit would be composed of. Although the video is informative, maybe a mini introduction to the speaker and topic would have been appropriate.

Hi Dennis, Content: I have provided numerous floating messages on your website, but I wanted to say that your unit was very informative. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, and iGoogle. You also included a tool called SurveyMonkey, which could be used easily as an assessment tool. Instructional Strategies: I see that you used research and video to assist you in teaching the content. You also utilized many tools that would allow for students to learn from each other. Assessment: I do feel that you could have used some assessment tools for the assignments that could have guided the students and provided an overall analysis of their learning. Objectives would have also guided the learners and revealed some expectations. Overall, I think you had a simple yet informative unit. I would recommend a little more development in the areas of assessment and instructional strategies, but other than that, I think you did a good job. Mary

Hi Betsy, Content: I have provided numerous floating messages on your website, but I wanted to say that your unit was very well-developed and informative. It appears that the creation of content of this sort is not foreign to you...lol. I loved your layout and usage of certain terms and concepts. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive, elaborate, and challenging learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Blogger. You also included Delicious, RSS Feed, Go to Meeting, and Google Docs. Outstanding. Instructional Strategies: Your strategies reflect those of a Master who has covered this area before. There is collaboration, cooperation, discovery learning, independent study, incorporation of effective web-based tools, etc. I feel that you really embraced the learning theories that the professor requested. Great job. Assessment: I think you included a great deal of rubrics, self-reflection, and one thing I normally dont see, a "long-term" assessment and reflection in my opinion that measures the progress of the learner to make sure learning is occurring. Good job overall. I find this unit one of a kind. Mary

Hi Joshua, Content: I have provided numerous floating messages on your website, but I wanted to say that your unit fulfilled its focus of teaching teachers how to integrate technology, specifically, Web 2.0. You used lessons that embraced the learning theories that the units should have focused on: Constructivism and Connectivism. Technology: It appears your technology usage and unit production focused on a progressive, elaborate, and challenging learning experience. You used many Google tools, which seem to embrace the user, such as Google Docs. You also included Webspiration which utilizes a chat component to support collaboration. You have also incorporated Diigo and Zotero, the latter, I had never heard of so I have learned something quite new to incorporate into my curriculum, web-based or face to face. Finally, as a PLE, iGoogle was used. I have personally found this tool to be extremely helpful, for it supports organization, collaboration, easy access, and updated content. Instructional Strategies: Your strategies used appear to place the learning as the learner's responsibility. There are also collaborative exercises that could increase the various perspectives of content, thus introducing new ways to solve a problem, etc. Assessment: Although you have included surveys and included a blog, I felt that a rubric would have been appropriate to use as well for guidance and assessment. Other than that, the pre & post surveys are good opinionated measurements to assess student progress. Good job. Mary

That is true, but that is also a problem I think occurs in discovery learning and goes back to whether or not the thinking matters or the fact that an individual arrived at the correct answer.

Hi, You have incorporated many useful tools here for communication and collaboration. Google Docs is a great tool for collaboration and sharing, Delicious sets the stage for social learning that is perpetual in its ability to post updated information, Webspiration is a web-based tool that allows for the creation of concept maps, that eventually individuals can work on as a group and communicate using a chat component of the tool, and finally iGoogle is the foundation ( currently in my opinion) as a PLE that allows for the unification of useful and effective tools for updated content. good job.

Hi, Good usage of collaboration tools to create an effective learning environment. Collaborative learning is a plus in Constructivism. Zotero is a tool that I personally havent heard of until now. This assignment has already taught me something. Also, good idea to include tutorials as some students, as myself, may not have had any exposure to these type of tools.

Lesson 1 (Education Technology Integration) - 0 views

  • Define digital literacy and demonstrate its importance in learning. Illustrate hypothesized consequences of digital illiteracy in the 21st Century.  Define and demonstrate competence in use of at least one social bookmarking site. Define, show understanding and utilize a blog for learning purposes.

Hi, Thanks for aligning the objectives with the lesson to provide a form of guidance and expectations from the learners.
  • collaborate with one another in groups
    • Mary Jones

Collaboration is a very important component of Connectivism and in some forms, Constructivism. Students in groups can learn a concept in the form of various perspectives and interpretations. Also, incorporating literature from various sources solidifies a lesson in my opinion.

Hi, I think that it is important that teachers do pre and post test to know where their students stand in a subject matter. I thought it was neat and interesting that you provided a survey before the beginning of this unit. I am also impressed that you have used a web 2.0 tool to create the survey.

Incorporating media in the form of a video is a new form of learning. What other materials besides video do you feel could have worked here. Have you ever thought of creating a video of yourself providing research, background information, etc?
  • This site is developed to help teachers learn how to integrate web 2.0 technology applications and tools into their teaching and learning environments. The teachers will use two methods to advance their learning in the use of these tools: User generated content and Wisdom of the Crowds though these two concepts will be limited to teachers taking the unit and not the World Wide Web audience. Also the learning will center around Constructivism and Connectivism   Personal learning Networks and Network learning Environments and how these can be

Hi, I find that even I failed to provide definitions of the terms and concepts that have been used in my unit. I think that you have done a good job here providing definitions and using tools such as Wikipedia to provide an understanding of the purpose and direction of this unit.

Hi, i feel that this tool is useful for any course because most individuals would like to see the progress of their learning. It is also imperative that individuals focus on areas that they appear to be weak in so that when new information is introduced, a strong foundation for the basics have already been covered and mastered. Thanks. Great job in seeing the vision for this assignment. You did very well. Mary

Hi, Your usage of the various tools necessary in a NLE are quite impressive. You have included a multitude of tools that support social learning, collaboration, access to nodes of information, usage of "old tools" for new learning opportunities, and the creation of products with group support, guidance, and cooperation. Good job of Connectivism.

Hi This assignment again places the responsibility of learning with the student/group. The utilization of of web-based tools, interpreting the needs assessment, and the collaboration and communication tools support the elements of Constructivism and in some forms Connectivism by creating an environment of continuous learning in various perspectives.
