I know there are several times I have said something and thought to myself, "Wow, that's an example of rhetoric!" but right now I can only think of one example. I can't even count how many political conversations I've had since the beginning of the election. One that particularly stands out to me is a conversation I had with my friend who, a month before the election, had no idea who she was voting for. I wanted her to make an informed decision instead of just walking in on election day and picking whoever she felt like choosing, so I decided to inform her of the candidates. I used logos to explain to her which candidate would be better for the United States, especially the economy, right now. I explained, using logic, why their policies were better than the other candidate's. That is the only example I can think of at the moment, but if I think of any more, I will definitely post them!

Okay, so I really wanted to comment on something about how people should get out there and vote since it seems like such a perfect time for it, but of course YouTube is down and won't let me make a username to be able to comment it. I'm just going to write my comment on here and post it on YouTube when it comes back up (I don't want my assignment to be late!) I can't find the video I wanted to post about anywhere else.

This is the link to the video:

I really liked watching this video. I love Rise Against! as a band and I think that this was the perfect song to put in a rock the vote commercial. It was the first time I had seen this commercial, and I absolutely loved it! I think it really gets the point out there, especially for young people, to get out there and vote this year. It's such a critical time in our lives, and although many people think that their one vote won't count for anything, it really does! The song in the video really urges people to vote with the lyrics "stop, take some time to think, figure out what's important to you," because that's really what it's all about-voicing your opinion on issues that are important to you. I really liked how the video, unlike some of them that simply have a famous person speaking about how important it is to vote, addressed some of the important issues in this election like gay marriage, war, health care, and abortion rights. I think the only thing that could have made it better was if it also addressed environmental issues and the very important economic crisis. I also thought it was great that the video showed young people, who are the least likely to vote. It really encourages younger people to get out there and vote!

    Update:
I just posted my comment onto YouTube now that it let me sign up. I did have to shorten what I originally wrote because of the character limit. Here is the link again:

Oh, and I apologize for putting the name of the band wrong on here in my first post, just ignore that! I was in a huge hurry to post it since I was waiting to see if YouTube would let me sign on at the last minute and had to post my response on here before 11:59! :)
