The Main Street Pimp I remember walking down Main Street and seeing this man. He stood out from the rest of the people I saw everyday. He would wear these interesting outfits unlike anything I had ever seen except for maybe in the movies. I found out he was known as the Main Street Pimp. When the podcaster said "Where is the Main Street Pimp?" I started to think and realized I had not seen him in a while. I wondered what had happened to him. I always enjoyed seeing him it kind of made me smile because he loved to be different from everyone else. He always looked happy. When I found out that the the Main Street Pimp had "died from a brain tumor" I was really sad. I missed seeing him walk around Main Street. He really became part of flushing and he really helped make it unique. I understand now why he did the things he did since he had schizophrenia. Although he had this condition he seemed happy and upbeat. He never seemed to care about what other people had to say about him. I would always say hello to him and he would smile. I am always happy to see people that make the best of their situation. I think although you may have issues you should not just give up or hate life. You should always live life to it's fullest. All I have left to say is rest in peace Main Street Pimp. We miss you.

What I noticed about, "Flushing Pimp" is how this man named Manuel was happy. He dressed very nice and always looked fresh. He stood out in crowded Main Street. There were people who admired him and people who ridiculed him, but no matter what, Manuel was happy. However, the Flushing Pimp has not been seen the in past year. Helen, Andrea, and Rayon try to learn more about him and search for him. They interview random people on Main Street. They told them about how unique Manuel dressed and how he stood out in the crowd. They also did not see the Flushing Pimp and wondered what ever happened to him. There were rumors that he died or went away somewhere, but Helen and her crew were determined to find out what happened. The crew went out to where Manuel used to live. They went inside the apartment building and rang the doorbell. A woman answered, however she didn't open the door fully. Her name was Caroline and she was the sister of Manuel. She talked for over an hour behind her door. When the crew asked where's Manuel, Caroline told them that he had died of cancer. Caroline said, "There were people who made fun of Manuel when he walked down the street, but he didn't care as he was just happy....He felt the need to look good." Caroline said that her brother suffered from a condition called schizophrenia. According to Google Health, "Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that makes it difficult to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses, and to behave normally in social situations." Caroline's tone throughout the interviewed changed from despising her brother, to actually caring about him. She talked about how Manuel was suffering from cancer. When Manuel was in the hospital, he called Caroline to bring him home because he didn't want to feel miserable. Even though he was about to die, he lived his life to the fullest. He looked forward to what was ahead of him. It was tragic

I'm learning more about envy right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is "How does envy affect people lives". I was searching this question online and this poem caught my attention because it explains exactly one reaction that envy can cause on people. "When the poison reaches the heart it's too late. Disastrous emotions take over such as revenge and hate." The quote I chose here is basically saying that envy cause people to get their emotions mixed up leading them to do the wrong thing. It also cause people to take revenge and do something they'll regret later on. I think this is correct because that how people react with envy. Not everyone reacts like that but most of them do.

I'm learning more about the multiple intelligences right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is how did Howard Gardner come up with the multiple intelligences. I was researching this online, and this blog post caught my attention because it mentioned Howard Gardner and the multiple intelligences. The title also showed a preview of what the article is about. I read the blog post and didn't show what i want, however i did find this quote to be intriguing. "Howard Gardner has questioned the idea that intelligence is a single entity, that it results from a single factor, and that it can be measured simply via IQ tests. . . challenging also the cognitive development work of Piaget. I think this is informative because it makes me wonder how he figured this out without using really complex technology.

I'm learning about multiple intelligences right now, in particular what I'm wondering about is: Have there been further studies on the subject? I was researching this question online, and this news item caught my attention because the title was blunt, there's no masking the point behind the article. "Last month, however, a group of cognitive scientists released a study concluding that the practice of shaping instruction around learning styles has no demonstrable effect on the individual student's grasp of classroom material." The quote I chose here is basically saying that scientists have disproved the multiple intelligences theory. There is no relation between the way a teacher teaches and how well a student gets the information. I think this is disheartening because I thought it was true, I still hope it is. It makes me wonder if the students I mentioned will have chances to live up to their potential.

I'm learning more about College basketball, and basketball skills. In particular what I'm wondering about is, if I would have learned these skills and have been playing basketball since 9th grade would i be ready to go to the college level? I was researching this question online, and this blog post caught my attention because it breaks down all of the skills a player must have to be great at his/her game. I went to this article because these are things i would like to know because i want my game to be at the highest level possible. "Vision is communication". The quote I chose here is saying vision is very important on the court. It is probably the most important because you play better when you see everything and can read what the deffence/ offence is doing. Also when your on offence and your a person that likes to throw passes and fill up the asists stat vision is very important. You want to throw the deffence off by throwing no look passes and ally oops, you can only do that with court vision.

" The quote I chose here is basically saying this page is almost like advice or a warning for the readers to learn more about zodiac sign compatibility. This may vary depending on how much personalities are changed by their environment. It isn't impossible for a Leo and Pisces to have a stable relationship but according to the article, it'll be very difficult for them. I think this is interesting because the future of a relationship can be determined just by zodiac signs of the partners. It makes me wonder if two zodiac signs who are known to be the most compatible could have struggles or an end to their relationship. The commitment of both partners matters too which can be determined by zodiac signs as well. It says Taurus and Scorpio are one of the best combination in relationships. It says "Though sometimes it can be rough, Scorpio brings out the best motivation for Tauruses whenever they encounter any failure and hardships. Scorpios are compassionate for Tauruses and gives them a feeling of security." I believe this is true from the experience I've had. From what is described in this article is almost exactly what I'm facing with a close person in my life who is a Taurus. I am a Scorpio and since our signs are almost opposites, we balance out each other and build a good relationship; Scorpio is a fire sign and Taurus is a water sign.

I find zodiac signs interesting too. im a taurus and i feel that taurus & Aries are one of the best signs in the zodiac. Those two signs put together are pretty much unstopable if they get together even if they say that they dont go together

There is currently no cure. The disease is caused by gene mutations that disrupt production of the protein prelamin A, found inside the nuclei of cells. Its horrible that survivors are now dying. They already been through the worst but now have to face even more struggles. Some of them are getting diseases as they wait laying under tents for doctors to save them. Some of them have big wounds and its not being treated. Their getting diarrhea and other sicknesses that can possibly kill them. Living in overcrowded tents and unsanitary conditions also add to the death tolls. Its already at about 200,000.

Im learning more about FGM/C right now, and in particular im wondering about is: why do women think it is OK to prefrom FGM/C. I was researching this question online, and this article showed up. "FGM/C is mainly performed on children and adolescents between four and 14 years of age. In some countries such as Ethiopia however, more than half of FGM/C is performed on infants under one year old." The purpose of this quote is to inform people on the ongoing events involving FGM/C. In particular, FGM/C on children and adolesense. I think this is very important to know about because in most societies, sexual is over looked, and given to practically anyone. However, in most places around the world, sexual activites are extremely important learn about.

I'm learning about human trafficking right now, and in particular what im wondering about is: why would people do that? i researched my question online and this article caught my attention. "Traffickers seek out vulnerable victims and coerce them into situations of exploitation. One such example is Maria (not her real name), an 8-year old girl who was forcibly removed from her home in Guatemala by a child trafficking ring and taken to a brothel in Cancún two years ago. Maria is now staying in a shelter for victims of human trafficking in Mexico City" The quote i chose here is basically saying that the traffickers picked up an innocent 8 year old girl and turned her into a prostitute. People are disgusting and will do anything for money. They just go and pick up people and think they can do whatever they want with them. As if we were just livestock.

I'm learning more about Women Empowerment right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about is: What do women have to empower?. I was researching this question online and this news item caught my attention because it talks about Mexico launching national campaign against human trafficking. I chose this item to read because I know that this situation is the top problem in the world. The title tells makes you think tons of things like for example that they want to end this problem. There are other countries who traffics a lot. "14 April 2010 - Mexico today took the lead in putting human trafficking on the global agenda by launching its own national version of the United Nations "Blue Heart" campaign against human trafficking." The quote I chose here is basically saying that they are come with an organization to deal with the Mexican Traffickers. They want to improve. It is almost like the United Nations in the USA. They want to make their own version. I think this is strong because it makes me wonder about how all the time the traffickers have to hide from the police. Their poor family are suffering. If they get caught they are in jail or they die. They get a lot of money. I want to know out of the entire world how many traffickers are in the world.

Right now, I'm learning about Women's Rights in different countries. I actually don't know a place from the top of my head that doesn't have equality for women. It makes me think how would my life be different today, if I was in one of those countries with no equality at all for women. I really think it would be really horrible and I can't imagine not having equality. It's like a nightmare almost... "The female football players in Bamyan have various plans for the future, from teacher to doctor, translator to painter. " The quote I chose here is basically saying that Afghanistan doesn't have equality for women. The young girl here who says that women are not being helped by policemen is really interesting. I never thought they wouldn't...since police are suppose to...help everyone. I guess it just shows that women's equality is really important. I hope that women's rights is established in that country and others. I would take effort and it's little girls like that who dream to become something for the benefit of others that issues like this will be solved.

I'm learning more about Girls/ Womens empowerment right now, and in particular what I'm wondering about this is how can you empower women or girls. I was researching this question online i came across this article. It caught my attention because the title is 'Promoting girls' empowerment through sport in Afghanistan.' It caught my attention because the title pretty much speaks for it's self. Girls can in fact be empowered through sports! This sparked my interest and so i began reading it. "Participation in sport is a critical part of any child's physical and social development, especially for girls. Sport can help to improve their self-esteem and self-awareness," says Dr. Atiqullah Amiri of UNICEF's Outpost Bamyan. "Sport teaches integrity and self-management by setting objective standards that girls can work to achieve." The quote I chose here is basically saying that sports can be a very big part of someones life. Sports can improve your overall self in many different ways. The ways in which are spoke about here is helping girls. It can improve their self-esteem and self-awareness, self-management and i believe it can build up great skills that can be put to use in everyday lives. Skills like team work, responsibility and so on. I think this is an very important fact. Sports can in fact help girls. It makes me wonder how powerful something can be, and how it can change something or someone like a sport. Like what is spoken about in this article.

WOW can you believe how fast technology is progressing? It's amazing what companies come up with every year. Our society always seems to thirst for more. Over the past few years, 3-D has become a HIT thing. Every now and then, a 3-D movie comes out. This Acer laptop is not only inexpensive, but it even comes with a pair of 3-D GLASSES!I'm indeed very curious about what the world would look like in the year 3000. I predict that we'd have laptops just pop out of our desks. Laptops that would take centuries to break. Who knows, they probably already exist. Technology is just amazing. It never ceases to amaze me with its abilities. I hope to hear more interesting news in the future!!!!
