      But isn't one of the main attractions of video games to put people in an alternate world? I, in fact, don't think the game is very realistic. The whole idea of fantasy is what is so different from real world. I think that's what is most appealing.

      This does sound like Sims, however it is more fantasy. I guess it's what someone wants to get out of the game. I think that the idea of going on hunts and the whole monsters and dragons thing makes it very different than Sims.

    I read this article that the evoke site has provided in the womanswatch feed link they provided with a bunch of other links. This story really stood out for me. A woman is standing up for what she thinks is right despite ridicule and harsh opinions she is getting from her community. She used to practice female mutilation in thinking it was for the practice for her Islamic religion. Its like a female circumcision. "In the Afar region, women have traditionally been subjected to the most severe form of the practice, infibulation, usually between the ages of seven to nine. In some districts it is carried out within the first few days after birth. Infibulation involves the entire removal of the clitoris, the labia minora and labia majora, followed by sealing of the wound, which leaves only a small hole for the passage of urine and menses. Figures show that 63.2 per cent of women in the Afar region have undergone infibulation (some people are now practicing a less extreme form). The practice leaves the girls with severe pain and trauma, shock, haemorrhage, sepsis, urine retention, ulceration of the genital region, and urinary infection, among other complications. Obstruction and tearing during sexual intercourse or childbirth is common." She now stops due to the seriousness that it is very bad for woman to get such treatment and can affect their bodies negatively, along with the main reason it doesn't support her religion.

I think this is a heavy impact because, when a mother sees her daughter scared and worried, that mother would do anything to protect them.     I read the title and I thought that it would be similar to my essay topic of phobias. It turned out, not so really, because it focused on people watching horror films. I especially like the part (where Jose quoted) that when a guy and girl go to the horror film. They both either dislike or like the movie depending on how their partner would react. Maybe I would be similar to this example because I can't take it when a guy gets frightened. It's just not cool. Music is also a frightening play on people!     What I noticed most about, "Searching for Main Street's Flushing Pimp," was they managed to find out the reason Emanuel Milton behaved the way he did. He had schizophrenia and many health problems. He got schizophrenia after his mother's death. He believed that dressing well gained you respect so he made his appearance, his number one priority. We learned that he lived his life the way he wanted to despite his health issues. When the podcaster said, "When his mother died that trigged his schizophrenia," I was thinking how a single event can drastically change a person's entire life. I think this is interesting because I believe that Emanuel was traumatized by his mother's death and that influenced him to become the person that everybody on main street saw him as. Another part that caught my attention was: "I don't think he was a pimp, I think he just dressed like that to get attention." This stood out for me because as the podcast continued, they learned that this was actually true. According to his sister, he believed that dressing well allows you to get respect. In a way he did, from many people on Main Street, he was able to accomplish his purpose of being the way he was. Since, he was so eye-catching to everyone around him; he became famous and was titled "the pimp on Main Street," not necessarily because he was a pimp but his appearance said that. I do strongly agree that "the pimp on Main Street" brought life to the neighborhood because he caught everyone's attention by his outrageous and colorful clothing. One reason I say this is because most people in Main Street were able to recognize him.     What I noticed most about "Steam buns 'R' us", was that they chose to talk about Steam Buns out of all things on main street. I guess they find Steam Buns THAT important. This probably stands out to me is because I have never tasted a Steam Bun and to be honest, I don't want to either. I have never liked East-Asian foods. I don't find enough taste in it. Its probably because I'm so used to eating such spicy foods because I'm Pakistani! When Melissa said, "cuz google never lies," I was thinking that's not true! There is lots of stuff on google that's not true. I know she probably said that to add humor to the story but it stood out to me. Another part I really liked was when Hawa said, "And I'm just Korean." It brought humor to the presentation. It really stood out because the music in the background paused. It seemed like the editing was done really well. I enjoyed watching this clip. It was funny, entertaining and informative.
