Nothing like this had ever happened before and no one knew how to clean up after its occurrence. Clean up and rebuilding efforts like The Road Home looked better on paper than they did in practice and many were left unable to rebuild. Issues arose in many cases and grant money never met the hands of those in most need. Then seven years later, Hurricane Sandy hit the East coast and destroyed homes in New Jersey and New York and the federal government now had a benchmark to judge against and knew what not to do, the outcome of their efforts is yet to be determined
