  •
"How do I create the perfect blog post?" That question by a young student stopped me in my tracks. After all, is there such a thing? I had to dig deep on this question and turned to the qualities of my favorite bloggers to find some common themes. They seem to fit for me - leave a comment and let me know how they land on you!

There are many Web 2.0 tools that can be used to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. It is important to understand that we are using all these tools to practise basic literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and engage and motivate students. You may need to register to use the tool but it is free and if you use the same email address and password for all registrations it's simple. Please try them and let us know how you went by commenting. Your feedback will help us all.

Clipmarks - What are you finding on the web? - 1 views

  •
On Clipmarks.com, you can see clips of text, images or video about all sorts of topics that other people find while surfing the web. The idea is that through each other, we can learn more, know more and enjoy more than we could possibly do alone. As you find people who post clips that interest you, make them a Guide. Think of your Guides as a team of web editors you choose to consistently deliver you clips of things they find on the web.

Microblogging for EFL with Plurk - 0 views

  •
Well I never thought I'd say this, but I've become a fan of microblogging! I have to say that it's mainly because of Plurk. When I first saw Twitter some time back I couldn't really understand what all the fuss was about. I had a look at a few 'twitterers' sharing such information as what they had for lunch or that they were washing their hair and decided there are levels of detail at which information stops being informative - if you know what I mean.

Techlearning > > Podcasting-A Tool to Motivate Teachers > July 1, 2008 - 1 views

  •
In my second grade classroom, we will occasionally read articles from Ranger Rick during guided reading lessons, and during this particular week we just happened to be learning about an African mammal on the brink of extinction. One group of students had an assignment to write a letter to the world telling why this animal should be saved. As a teacher who routinely integrates technology into the classroom, my students are often curious about ways to share the knowledge that they gain. One particular student was especially curious about sending the letters to someone through email, so I decided to look up some information on the web. Within minutes, I had found a website with information about the animal and efforts being made to save it. For the following week, instead of taking part in indoor recess, this group of students chose to spend time learning more about this endangered animal on the computer. Watching them, I could see how much they were enjoying learning. I didn't think it could get much better, but I was wrong.

Langwitches » Digital StoryTelling- What Comes to Mind? - 0 views

  • As many of you know, who follow me on Langwitches, I am working on a Digital Storytelling Guide for Educators. I will be using Wordle to create a storytelling cloud with words that come to mind when you think what Digital Storytelling means to or for you. Please contribute keywords, that come to YOUR mind when you think of storytelling in a comment. Don’t hesitate to add duplicate keywords what digital storytelling means to you. That way Wordle will highlight more important keywords. I will add your reponses through the comments and through Twitter and Plurk to Wordle and add the collaborative cloud to this post and as part of the cover art of the hardcover book that will be available for free download on Lulu.com . This cloud will be a digital story in itself, told by all of us!
