It WORKS!!! Finally!!! And I only had to spend about 8 hours on it. Hah! This is my random rolling die page, and many many MANY thanks to Jen Rock, Ellise Kuban, Dr. H and my friend Evan the Bard (moniker) for helping me out with the code. Just goes to show that sometimes it takes a village!

Visualize the dice...I must say this challenge has given me the most grief since the class began. After about four days of trying and talking to classmates it has finally become a reality. This page has two die, that roll randomly. The Die are courtesy of Jen Rock and her excellent photoshop skills. Thanks to her and her refusal to do another challenge, this assignment has been completed.

I found this website by googling php for dummies. I was having a difficult time after reading and watching the tutorials so I immediately began looking for the basics and some explainations. This site made it easy to get the basics and a lot of alternative ways to find tutorials. I recommend it for anyone as confused as I was at the getgo.

Adds a toolbar to Firefox with tools and drop-down menus that provide a means to create and view various parts of CSS and Html files. Seems to be useful as a learning tool as well as a development tool.

Used this before Firebug came along. A fine tool.

I host at least 5 different sites with this webserver and have never had any trouble. I've used their help desk quite a few times and have always received a response in a timely manner. When I was first looking for a webhost, I found a list of reviews on CNet, and at the time, IXwebhosting was rated #1. The price is right as well. I approve!

For this class and all my web hosting experiences, I have only used Bluehost.com web hosting services. They make it so simple and easy to host your sites - multiple sites are really easy to host ( a folder file system). You can upload to the server using FTP or a secure web disk if using a mac. Sites are then hosted on 2 platforms - public or private. Thus allowing for secure areas for additional site functionality. What is also great about this service is that I have a file server wherever I go - no longer do I need to worry about carting a flash drive or disk with me everywhere, all I need is my computer. They are 100% reliable, was easy to transfer my domains to them and host all my pages. Definitely recommend it.

This shows how to set up style sheets so you don't have to reinvent the wheel every time you want to design an element similar to what you did last time. This makes it easier for type, color and other elements to have a continuity and to feel more cohesive. It also saves valuable time if you know you are going to use a certain design style over and over.

This page is just a basic intro/course description for an HTML class taught at UC Berkeley. It's really just a few sentences, but it's one of those short on words/long on meaning pieces of text that I admire because it gets to the meat of what HTML is all about in a very intelligent way. What struck me, though, was the line that states: "... it's valuable to know HTML even if your day job involves working with a content management system... " I work with a CMS all day! As I've mentioned before, I work for CNN.com and mainly produce interactive features and such, yet I know shockingly little about them there Internets! This course will hopefully help me bridge that gap between the material I am comfortable with, and that which intimidates me.

This is the section of lecture 2-2: Text Mess that I added a comment to. I hope you will check out the link I added if you are interested in how you can incorporate what you know about design aesthetics to what you are learning about CSS.

Question on video at around 23:30: While different browsers don't all support the same features, will they at least support basics like flow and positioning in like fashion? I recently had a heck of a time with a positioning difference between Firefox and IE, and I still wonder if it was my code, or the way IE dealt with it.

Thought I would share with everyone a bit about myself. It was interesting creating a page without tags because I was limited to the layout running on and on without line breaks or margins on the page. I tend to design sites with organization and structure and this was totally out of the ordinary for me. Happy Reading.

Here is my updated recipe page; CSS version. This new one has a gray background for the main page and white to make the actual recipe stand out. The main title stands out against the other headers by color and size. All headers are in a sans-serif font while body text is a serif. Also, the links have a rollover feature and are a differnt color than the body text.

Though the assignment was to publish a three-page site, I got a little carried away and added more. This is just a fun site dedicated to (some) U.S. Presidents' favorite foods. From the home page, you can link to Obama, Clinton, Bush 41, Reagan, and Kennedy -- and back home again. Bon Appetit!

New and improved CSS version. Also found a menu bar template, fiddled with it a bit, and made comments as part of understanding how it works. Attempting to satisfy webprog-2-d and webprog-2-f.

Very nice! If you stick the code for the menu bar *inside* the "wrap" div, I have a feeling it will work out better. Right now, when you maximize on a big screen, the menu goes a bit wonky. (Don't need to fix for the purposes of this assignment, but just so you know.)

Thank you! I've been going a little nuts with a few things. :) The menu bar was easy to place in Firefox, but wouldn't position properly at all in IE. I managed to do some fudging, but don't like the result, as I later gave up margins:auto to pin things down. After all that, the two browser renditions still look a little different. Much to learn.

Here is a simple three-page site about the Pilates method of physical conditioning. The site features a what is pilates page, history of pilates page and basic equipment page with photos and descriptions. Visitors are able to navigate to each of the three pages from one another. An issue I ran into was knowing how to gage the size of the images and how that affected the text size of the headings.

Note that the <img> tag is self-closing--need to remember to have the closing slash on that. You also missed closing one of your <p> tags.

I decided to brave the world of Facebook Applications and created a major US City Clock of sorts. Once the users pick and submit a city from the drop down menu the current date and time will appear. For now it is lacks style but I'll be editing as I go along. Enjoy!

Voila! Erica and I did a variation of fill-in-the-blank wedding stories, complete with wedding cake themed CSS. Fill out the form once, choose the button for the story you want - hitting the back button will allow you to simply choose another story from the index page. Enjoy, and happy summer.

This is mine and Jen's final. We created a wedding story fill-in, using JQuery and Php in order to input your values into our stories. Enjoy!

Here is a form page that requires a valid email and name for submission. There are three input fields: name, age and email. However, the name and email fields are required while the age field is optional.

Close! Just need it to reject blank names.

updating this page on my photo site from module 2, I have changed the layout a bit. I have also added buttons to show and hide the description of the pictures. I really like this show/hide feature. I feel it will come into good use when i have alot of text, that i dont want overwhelming a user unless they want to read it all. the jquery home page and tutorials are very very helpful with great, at least i think so, examples/demos/references to using javascript and jquery

This is my final project. all the pages validate, and i have included the little icon the validation page provides you. I have used ajax and php on the first page to display course information when you select a course from the drop down menu. on the courses page, i have included a javascript validation to make sure you fill out all the fields if you want to submit a rating and comments. The php automatically displays the comment once posted. any questions, just ask! Thanks for everything
