"This user guide is for educational organisations interested in developing open education practices using popular social media. It is based on an analysis of the Otago Polytechnic experience 2006-2009, where a small group of teachers used social media to develop open education practices."

Testing Caprét - 1 views

"I've been testing the alpha release of CaPRéT , a tool that aids attribution and tracking of openly licensed content from web sites. According to the Caprét website. When a user cuts and pastes text from a CaPRéT-enabled site: The user gets the text as originally cut, and if their application supports the pasted text will also automatically include attribution and licensing information. The OER site can also track what text was cut, allowing them to better understand how users are using their site." The attribution below was automatically added when I pasted in the text above. Interesting indeed and some good stuff happening in this space. JISC_CETIS_Informal_Horizon_Scan_2011.pdf - 1 views

  •
This report outlines some technology trends and issues of interest and relevance to CETIS. It should be seen as a set of un-processed perceptions rather than the product of a formal process; a great deal of ground is not scanned in this paper and it should be understood that no formal prioritisation process was undertaken. The CETIS Horizon Scan should be seen as a set of potentially-idiosyncratic "takes", material on which discourse and disputation may occur to make possible futures more clear.

Event Eye - 0 views

  •
Unfortunately it's quite expensive "Event Eye is the first in a new generation of tools to enable event organizers to capture the backchannel and to integrate it with the main themes and presentations of the conference, to create a fluid dialogue that demonstrates an understanding of the audience and makes the links between the disparate comments. By using Event Eye, organisers will understand the mood and interests of their audience and will be able to react in real time to audience feedback and need. Event Eye has the potential to build the social capital of a conference, capture the collective intelligence and to turn an event into a movement."

How to Enhance Online Student Engagement and Satisfaction | Faculty Focus - 0 views

"Adding audio instructions or commentary helps you meet the needs of auditory learners, and often adds interest to the content. Schiefelbein said she often creates an audio recording of housekeeping tasks, such as deadline reminders, as well as to review what was covered the previous session. She also uses the Wimba Voice Board to create an audio-based discussion board which students use to discuss topics and reply to posts."

5 Reasons Why Activity Streams Will Save You From Information Overload - 2 views

  •
Interesting post flagging the info overload things that we have all come across. The second point in the 5 point list is part of the concept that Downes & Siemens have used in the Connectivism MOOC i.e. don't even attempt to read everything - that's not what it's about. Instead choose & filter your information, create networks and trust platforms for 3rd party filtering.
