The Google Public Data Explorer makes large datasets easy to explore, visualize and communicate. As the charts and maps animate over time, the changes in the world become easier to understand. You don't have to be a data expert to navigate between different views, make your own comparisons, and share your findings.

More stuff for the Analytics box. If this can grab authenticated data then return it through a dashboard display, it could give students a wide view of what they are doing - Moodle, library, facebook contacts with classmates etc.

Talks about various techniques for blogging, podcasting, photo work, etc and takes a no-nonsense view of learning these tools and taking responsibility for yourself when using technology. Most things are valid outside of journalism so this is useful for all.
