Open learning - for photography (and so storytelling)

A resource for post secondary educators.

PicFindr searches the web* for stock photography that is completely free to use commercially. Several licensing arrangements have recently emerged as alternatives to copyright (sometimes called "copyleft") and PicFindr makes sense of them all by helping you find images based on what you have to do to use them, whether licensed under Creative Commons, GNU, a site-specific agreement, or something else. PicFindr can even find free images you can use commercially without requiring permission or credit of any kind!

This looks cool and fast with some useful photo editing functions eg Resize besides the fixed 'themes'.

Excellent post on fair use, its flaws and the danger of copyright accusation without trial.  This is an example of remix and appropriation of an image where the author could not afford to go to court and potentially lose (multiple times $150,000) and so settled out of court at $32500.

Great guide put together from a series of blog posts. Talks about various techniques for blogging, podcasting, photo work, etc and takes a no-nonsense view of learning these tools and taking responsibility for yourself when using technology. Most things are valid outside of journalism so this is useful for all.

An image bank where the images are dedicated to the public domain with a CC0 license. All are high quality and well worth a look.
