With CCSS coming down the pike, I think that any source that can help educators integrate these new standards is worth checking out. If I were to introduce this source to educators, I would give it a quick introduction. I think that sources like this deserve time to be picked through. If this was not an option, I would possibly give teachers an already made lesson and ask them to assign CCSS to the lesson. Thoughts?

Common Sense Media offers a free Digital Citizen curriculum. It is but together in an iBook that includes quizzes and other interactive pieces.

Would use this for an in-service with teachers that focuses on determining text complexity

Wisc Online is repository of learning content created by teachers and other subject matter experts delivered online and free to everyone. It is creative commons. Target audience would be middle school and above. Covers vast area of topics from heat transfer to digital circuitry to health science topics. Categories organized as: arts and humanities, career clusters, computer science, manufacturing and engineering, math, science, and social studies.

I did a search in OER Commons and found a blended lesson that could become part of the lesson we are doing for this class. The search options by grade, subjects, and standards are very helpful. I had no idea this existed. It seems very versatile and links well with Google Classroom. It also provides support materials, teaching guides, and a thorough list of standards.

Common Sense Media's 2019 educator census 2019- gives current research & data about tech use in schools.

Common Sense Education's recommended Social Networking sites for teachers - some are similar to 'real' social network sites ( like Edmodo which is modeled after Facebook) and some are totally their own thing.

This short lesson, presented by Common Sense media, addresses copyright to upper elementary students. Topics include what is copyright, plagarism and having ownership of your own work. Video is from the viewpoint of student author who publishes her work and looks for feedback. Good intro video.

I love using the read write think resources. This would be a great way for students to showcase the book they're reading for display in the library.

This source provides information on avoiding plagiarism. Provides definition of plagiarism, example, interactive of basic tips and a quiz. There is also information on creative commons and public domain. I could see using the examples provided for small group discussions. I see myself using a lot of the information on copyright as it is easy to read and lays out the format that will be easy for the students to understand. These examples are under a big umbrella of information called "Using Information Correctly." There are 3 big ideas under this which include Avoiding Plagiarism, Putting Info Together and Copyright and Fair Use.
