A course on how to build an audience in social media. Excellent professional development resource for teachers and librarians wanting to build an audience within their social media. The entire "course" would be a large time investment, but many of the resources for the course could be used for staff development.

Very important topic that can get overlooked

The webinar will allow participants to: critically examine common practices associated with use of social media tools in the library; learn how to incorporate social media strategies into marketing plans effectively, understanding the capabilities of different channels and how they can be tailored to suit your library's individual needs; understand how trends in librarianship affect social media usage, how use of social media can vary by job role, and how you can transfer this knowledge to enhance the effectiveness of your role.

Part of a video series that covers broad topics in education in short, entertaining videos - think the "Cliff Notes" version. It would be a great introduction to a unit for students, as well as teachers to enhance their knowledge of a subject. I would recommend it for upper elementary - high school. The particular video is on Media Literacy, but there are tons of other videos too - science, math, STEAM, theater & drama, etc. There are over 8 million subscribers to their channel, so they must be good! :-)

This YouTube series explains what media literacy is, its history, and why it's important. I would use this to teach teachers and new librarians. I would also use it to teach media literacy at the secondary level.

There's a quiet-or not so quiet-shift happening in school libraries across America. The social media revolution-reflected in all manner of shiny iPhone apps, blogs, Nings, Facebook pages, and other social networking tools, sites, and platforms-is real, and it's running like a loud line of students straight through the stacks, into the common areas, taking a sharp turn, and heading right on up to the teacher librarian/media specialist's desk.
