This site has an abundance of information related to most classroom uses. It has information on English, math, science, geography, history, art etc. There are short power points to show to students, worksheets and many other ways to use this site. It will be helpful to teacher in more than one area.

This site organizes lessons, pictures and documents by historical era. The links include descriptions of the historical events. Because of the variety of historical events included and the organization of the site, it will be easy for teachers to find what they are looking for.

An index for the study of infectious disease and disease prevention. The site contains information on all diseases from arthritis to yellow fever. Health classes will find this web resource a valuable tool for projects or writing assignments involving disease. The amount of content for each disease is amazing, detailing information on transmission, vaccines, symptoms, and prevention. Diagrams or images are often given highlighting the microscopic view of the disease itself.

This website is a must for science teachers. Numerous Internet-based lesson plans and activities can be found here. Nearly all of these lessons are linked to common science standards and science literacy standards. Students can listen to the weekly podcast on breaking science news or stories. What is really cool is the resource navigator which helps science educators find other online resources dealing with their topic of study.

Hundreds of free activities and lesson plans for educators in the areas of social studies and geography. Also includes printable maps of nearly every continent and country. The interactive museum allows students to take geography journeys to mountain ranges, archaeological digs, outer space, and other animations.

This site offers students information about the Johnson Space Center and the programs it supports. There are links for student activities and student internships. There is even a link where students can obtain grade-level appropriate information about careers available at NASA.

This drawing submitted by Eli Whitney for his cotton gin patent application could be used at the elementary level when discussing Whitney's invention and its impact. Students will be able to see what a cotton gin looks like and how it operates. This document could also be used at the senior high level when discussing patent applications.

This is a site that has primary sources that relate to Greek history. My eye was drawn to this because 6th graders study Greek history and I've noticed that students of all ages seem to be very fascinated by it. I think what this website has would be very meaningful if enough was known about the primary sources being shared. In other words, what I saw that is available here isn't engaging all by itself, but if something was being talked about in a history book or in a piece of literature, then it would be cool to make the connection with a primary source here.

An excellent site for social studies research with major documents from pre-colonial to the present. I searched for primary documents about the civil war and found this site.

This website is a portal for many other websites that would be very useful for teaching. I haven't looked at all of the links, but there are links to major websites like the Smithsonian and Library of Congress, both of which I know have primary documents available on them. Not all of these sites have government documents on them, but many of them do.

This website offers information to students about bullying and how to help stop it. It offers a link that allows a student to determine if he/she is indulging in behavior that would be categorized as bullying. The site also offers webisodes and games to help students understand more about the effects of bullying. A link to an adult's page is included.

An excellent resource for students researching the Holocaust. Probably more useful for the high school student who wants transcripts/interviews/actual documents from world leaders who were involved in policy decisions during this time. PBS, a reliable trusted resource.

A fabulous resource for primary source documents detailing important events in American history. The site links you to the actual document image, which students would love, and the explanation below. Over 100 original documents with live links. Also a tab for teacher resources. Great site for American history research.

A deep archive of arts databases sponsored by Harvard. The image database is a great collection of original photos that can be searched by artist name. I searched Picasso and found photos of the artist himself as well as other photos that may not be relevant to research. However, the site is a wealth of information for art students. Great links to the Smithsonian collections.

The Nobel home web site offers a generous supply of first hand information not only on the prize itself, but of the many men and women who have earned the prestigious prize. The entry here is of Herman Hesse, his autobiography sketch in his own words. The home page offers links to all winners in all areas, the sciences, literature, etc. A great resource for librarians as well as students, mostly appealing to high school and up, wanting more specific information on Nobel Laureates as well as the origination of the prize.

This page provides information for teens about how drugs affect your body and mind, and it explains the science behind drug addiction and abuse. There are also links where students can download free iron-ons and stickers. Good resource for secondary students.

This is the official site for the Ken Burns series on National Parks. Here you can watch clips of the series. There are sections on the history of national parks and the people often associated with the parks. There are lesson plans for upper grades for various episodes. There are also learning modules for digital story telling that I found very interesting.

A place for art and culture, literature and language arts, foreign language, and social studies. Includes a vast collection of grade level lesson plans and activities for those areas mentioned above. The monthly features are especially entertaining. For example this month features spotlights on Hispanic heritage month, and the history and origins of Halloween and Day of the Dead celebrations.

The largest maritime museum in North America. The website provides valuable information on seafaring and oceanic voyages. The online image collection features over 2,000 images for personal or commercial use. Use this site as a primary resource for the study of explorers in Social Studies. Several biographies are given for explorers like John Cabot, Vasco Balboa, Magellan, and Amerigo Vespucci.

This site can be used as a resource for projects involving conservation, protection, or Nebraska ecosystems. If you study Nebraska animals or fish this is a great place to start. Every species of Nebraska fish can be viewed in detail using the fish identification tool, which also provides great descriptions and characteristics.
