On Guard Online - 0 views

At first, I didn't realize that this was a government website. Users can look just by topics and then look by topics. The main purpose of the website is not just child safety online, but rather overall safety (i.e. avoiding identity theft). When the user looks at the child privacy portion of the site, parents are able to find several helpful and an easy to read site. Overall, I think this would be a great site for the novice internet user.

Wired Safety - 0 views

This is another safety website that I found. I like the left hand column that allows the user to search by topic. I thought that many of the topics (i.e. Is your child at risk) would be very helpful to parents that may not know a lot about internet safety. Overall, the website is kind of busy and contains a lot of unnecessary information. If I were to recommend this site to parents, I would tell them to read the left column by topic.

Web site with a lot of tutorials on many different diseases and conditions, tests and diagnostics, surgeries and treatments, and preventions. Students can be guided through these finding information such as symptoms, diagnoses, and treatments. Practical Physics - 0 views

This site was very cool. There are more specific links geared towards Science. The site had links to Yoursky, MyStarsLive, Starlab and NASA. Again, this would not be one that every teacher could use, but the applications could be used in areas like Math and even part of a thematic unit in Reading/Writing. The one thing I didn't like about the site was the advertisements that looked like links to other tools.

This site is a great resource designed to assist teachers in teaching language arts. It provides a variety of resources from teaching comprehension, poetry to providing author studies. One of my favorite components of the site is the extensive selection of printable Readers Theatre. The author of the site even has a blog!

ICDL - International Children's Digital Library - 0 views

  •
The International Children's Digital Library has children's picture books written in English and other languages. The content of the books seems to have an emphasis on fairy tales, folklore, and diverse cultures. From their mission statement, "to excite and inspire the world's children to become members of the global community - children who understand the value of tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, languages and ideas -- by making the best in children's literature available online."

This is a cached version of page two of the online safety report article from eSchoolNews. Because you are required to have a (free) account to finish reading the article, I thought I would save everyone the step and just share the article. To view the cached version in Diigo, just click on the icon that says 'snapshot'.
