"As higher education institutions in the United States strive to maximize their use of resources to better support students, it is now more critical for professionals to make data-informed decisions. Most institutions are currently gathering an abundance of data from multiple sources, which provides a good opportunity for functional units, divisions, and departments to share timely and relevant data and collaboratively deliver programs and services. Three of many integral units that are involved in data-informed strategies are institutional research (IR), student affairs, and information technology (IT). Thus, three higher education membership associations, the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, and EDUCAUSE partnered to conduct a survey that examined the current landscape of institutions' use of data and analytics for student success. This report describes a variety of challenges and opportunities regarding institutions' readiness to expand their use of data across functions."

An assessment model for undergraduates

This is a great article - This perspective sums it up - I am looking at my EPP from this angle...Digital Space that supports student learning.

But it isn't professional development - at least not in the traditional concept of it. Instead, my PLN is a network of people who care about me. It's where I go in those dark moments where I have wanted to quit. It's where I go when I am excited and want to celebrate. It is far less of a "network" and more of a community. The reality is that teaching is hard. That's the real reason I have a PLN.

n this class, we will briefly cover the history and development of MOOCs. Participants will engage in discussions about why institutions offer these courses, and the possible benefits to both schools and students. This four-week course will examine MOOCs from four perspectives: as a designer building a course, as an instructor, as a student, and as an institution offering and supporting a course. Nevertheless, my prediction is that the MOOC 2.0 will enable one-on-one learning using personalized, video chat-based help, which is why I founded Teeays, a platform for on-demand TAs for MOOCs. Ultimately, the format of the MOOC 2.0 will be whichever format enables individual learning to scale as dramatically as content distribution has scaled in the MOOC 1.0. In a world where more than 2 billion people are connected to broadband internet, face-to-face learning is bound to go digital.
