The Utah Open Textbook Initiative (UTOT) began in 2010. From a small pilot involving less than 10 teachers and three grades, UTOT has grown to a statewide program for grades 7 - 12 that improves science learning and drastically reduces the cost of providing every student with access to quality science curriculum. the inverted classroom places a lot of intentional structure on the out-of-class experience. We don't just hand students a book or a PDF or a bunch of videos and say, Read/Watch these and then we'll discuss them in class. The out-of-class experience for students in a flipped classroom is structured.

Once created, the resources can be uploaded to KDP for use by students anywhere in the world on Kindle Fire tablets, iOS and Android devices, Macs or PCs.
