A Busy Day at Union Station - 0 views

  •
I normally create these routes for Virtual Railroader without any custom material so that you will not need to download additional material. For this route there are three items that are custom made, and which are available from the Trainz Download Station (DLS). I have added them to this route to enhance your enjoyment. They are all parts of one unit called a "Signal Box with Interior View." I wrote an article in the 1 May 04 issue of VMRJ entitled "Thinking Inside the Box" that details the use of the Signal Box. It might help to read that article and get an understating on how the Signal Box is installed and used. The Signal Box was first created by Jetstreamsky and then updated for TRS2006 by Alex23. The KUID numbers below are for the updated unit. Signal Box With Interior View kuid:193148:1198 SignalBox Interior kuid:193148:1196 Signal Box Telegraph Office Clock kuid:193148:1197

Aotearoa113 V2 UTC route update. - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • This is an updated version of sirgibby UTC HO scale route, Aotearoa113 located at http://www.trainzone.co.nz/layouts.htm Some of the modifications include replacing the default auran track with better looking higher looking track. I also replaced the almost all scenery, and made the route fully interactive. I also recorded and added a sound script. Only 2 other routes I know of make use of that ability in trainz and they are both payware. The route has 1930’s style traffic and built for steam operations. But you may run anything almost without it looking to out of place. Also the main line and yard is modeled PRR style stuff but again you can run almost anything without it looking to out of place.

How to set up drive schedule - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Hi DonVrx, Simple realy when you think about it, a drive command is one off. A drive schedule is a series of drive commands strung together one after the other. When the AI driver completes one command he will look for the next command, if there is no more commands he will stop. If you have a continuous track i.e. a loop you can place a repeat after the last command, this will cause a completed command to be added at the end of the list and used again after all the others have been completed. Cheers, Bill69
  • I have used the Schedule Library and the Copy Schedule command to build a schedule for my AI drivers. The Schedule Library lets you setup a schedule of commands all at once and then share the set of command with more than one driver using the Copy Schedule command. This is easier than setting up each command again for multiple drivers. The schedule command its self is more work. I've used that for passenger trains once, but it was hard to calculate how long a train would take to get between stations because the AI are so unpredictable. John
  • Having a schedule is great for passenger service. Trains leave and arrive at particular times day and night on a consistent basis in real life. By doing this in Trainz, we can make the running more realistic, and have to work the freights in between the scheduled passenger trains as the freights can't get in the way of the highballers. John

Trigger Help - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • I have two sw engines. Each one operates on a trigger. The first goes into the yard, couples to a consist and then takes the consist to a factory and loads. It returns the cars to another spur and uncouples and returns to the stall and waits for the trigger. A portal train brings empties and leaves them on the first track and then goes to the spur and picks up the fulls and takes them to the portal. On the exit it trips the trigger and the process starts over. The second sw operates much the same with a 10 minute wait before it begins. This system works great but you have to state in the trigger rule the name of the loco. You might call the trigger train "Chem-Train" or "Milk-Train" and then that is the only loco that can trip the trigger.
  • The best way to learn about triggers is het up a new track and draw a line of track that goes from one side of the start grid to the other side, -Then pick a train and make sure it has a driver.
  • In the cases of Accipiter777 and Mr_D using the post message and the wait for message and clear commands would eliminate the need for the trigger being set of by another train and would not require Double engined trains to have the AI at the front. These commands dont need to know what engine is being used it has its own tags that the driver sends out and any driver set up to wait for it will then carry out the next task. __________

Recommended routes? - Page 2 - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Not to sure why the routes you are downloading have so many "missing assets". I rarely have this problem. One solution might be to change your settings in CMP. In CMP go to FILE - SETTINGS - MICELLANEOUS and untick "Suppress Asset Warning in Trainz" Make sure "Automatically commit" is ticked also. Next time you try an run a route that you know has missing assets, make sure you are connected to the internet. Before the route loads you should get a screen that give you the opportunity to "find missing assets". Click on that and your system will open CMD and try and find the missing assets. If those missing assets are on the download station it should find them, and you should be able to download them. If they not on the download station/CMP you will then have to try and find them on third party sites. Which can be very frustrating.............. Cheers, Mac.
  • The small G&D is mine. I don't remember if I put a run around in Daphetid. I don't think so because the prototype didn't have one, and there's no turntable up there anyway. I assure you, if you put some track there for a runaround, you won't hurt my feelings. Enjoy yourself. If you download a layout and you don't like it, you can delete it in Content Manager. You should also get Trainz Object. It works great for TRS04. I'm not sure how I lived without it. Click on my link below and check out my toys. I also did the Minato Railway, which was the first Japanese prototype on the DLS. We didn't have nearly as much Japanese content back then, but I think it came out okay. I'm also still fond of the Furuya layout and Makatini Junction. (both fictional) Claude
  • c. a centerpiece of all but the Mad River route is the 16 portals and the opportunities they give for introducing plenty of challenge in operations against a steady movement of trains that have priority over yours.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • I find the Niddertalbahn one of the best routes made for the simulator.
  • "Ffestiniog Railway." Narrow gauge, very enjoyable to operate.

Tutorial on moving custom assets to 2009 - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • Hi Bob The title of that post is A simple Tutorial--Gmax to Trains I got to thinking a little more about your question. The link above is to my tutorial is the process I used to get an asset just created from Gmax into TRS2009 or TRS2006. There are some parts of that tutorial that would definitely help you but even that tutorial would be more than what you need to do. I'm not sure TRS2004 as it (in my understanding) does not have a content manager in it.( I might be wrong I haven't done anything with TRS2004.) But with 2006 you Use your CMP to locate your assets. Right click on each one of them and click save as CDP from the drop down menue. You take the all the cdp's that you've created and put them all in a folder that you know what the location of it is. Close 2006 Cmp and open Cmp2 in TRS2009. Go to file/import/and location of your cdp files/ and press enter on your keyboard and CMP2 will go to that folder and automatically install each and every asset that you made into a CDP into TRS2009. The key to TRS 2004 content I think is to figure out how to get those assets in CDP format.

Tutorial: Saving Custom Displacement Maps in TS2009 - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  • OK, Here are the steps that I was able to take to save a custom displacement map from the displacement map window. 1. Open the Advanced section of the Topology panel. 2. Use the Select Area tool to choose an area of terrain on the route. 3. Click on the Get Displacement button. A greyscale image of your terrain should appear in the window. 4. Now click the tiny Save Displacement checkmark in the upper right of the new image. 5. Fill in the name and description for your new displacement map. You can repeat the process as much as you like. All the maps you create are real TS2009 assets and will show up in CM2 ready for you to upload to the DLS.

That industry appears to be created for TRS2006 according to the DS. Change the build number in the config to 2.4 and it should work fine, unless he's used some of the newer scripting features of TRS2006, which is doubtful. Smiley.

Interactive map making? - TrainBoard.com - 0 views

Interactive map making? Computers & Trains John- I'd highly recommend the following link... USGS Geography: The National Map Click on the "Go To Viewer" on the left, and a map creator will open up in a new window. You can use the "layers" on the right side to turn various coverages (things like hillshade, railroads, highways, topo maps, etc.) on and off, and once you have the map the way you want it you can export it out as an Adobe file. I created most of the maps in the Along the Line section on McCloud Rails (McCloud Rails Home Page- McCloud River Railroad, McCloud Railway Company, McCloud River Lumber Company) and many of the maps on High Desert Rails (High Desert Rails) using this source. Hi, For DCC, you need to increase the "max-accel" parameter in the motor section of the engine config. The built-in class 40 is set to 18000 as standard, try something in 20,000 - 30,000 range. If you are importing engines from TR06 the "max-accel" parameter will be set at something like quarter of what it needs to be in TC3. You need to change this to get the locos to work properly in TC3. Adventures in CMP - 0 views

CMP CHECKLIST-Some things to try. 1. Run ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\TrainsDiag.exe and verify EVERYTHING passes. CMP will not run if OpenGL doesn't pass. 2. Verify that your firewall allows the following: ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\ContentManager.exe ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\Launcher.exe ..\Auran\TRS2006\bin\Trainz.exe 3. Start CMP and click Files/Settings/Internet and verify your username and password are correct and in Files/Settings/Miscellaneous verify your User ID is correct. 4. The Assets.tdx file is in the ..\Auran\TRS2006 folder. Assets.bku, a backup copy of Assets.tdx, if present will be in the .\Auran\TRS2006\cache folder. Assets.bku is not required but Assets.tdx is required for proper operation of CMP. 5. If Launcher will not start Trainz kill the ..\Auran\TRS2006\Video\LogoIntro.avi movie by editing the ..\Auran\TRS2006\trainzoptions.txt file to add the line: -intro=disable Bob

Both are Trainz Classic Only ! 1. The L&BR Monoriail Switching layot : a Single board version of the L&BR system using the orginal plans with one change that Lisselton and Ballybunion are made into a loop so you can just run the trains. The layot is passenger and industry active but you will need to setup a session. The layot used items from the ING and DLS. should be no missing items. 2. Ishtropolis : A modified version of Modular city with the buildings changed using Ish, David Drake and other authors items for those who would like a change. There should also be no missing items.

Signals? - Trainz Discussion Forums - 0 views

  •
You don"t appear to be listening Lengo if I can say so without being rude.If you have a piece of track from A to B you need 1) a red trackmark at B to tell the AI driver where to drive to.Past the trackmark you need Buffers/Railends to define the physical limits of the track and reassure the driver it is safe to drive to Tackmark B.Between A and B you need at least 3 signals (any type) to let the driver know he can do more than 18 MPH.Less than 3 signals and he will stick to 18.An AI driver (like a real train driver) needs to know a) where the line ends b) what signalling system is in use c) where those signals are d) what the speed limit is.
