YouTube provides a number of resources for teachers to help them make the most of YouTube in the classroom. Use the playlist feature to build collections of videos for your classroom. The community features allow you to easily share content, playlists, and ideas with other YouTube teachers.
YouTube Edu is a large collection of YouTube videos and channels dedicated to educational content. The collection is organized into categories by subject and topic.
When playing a YouTube video, you may notice that some videos include advertisements, lists of related videos, and comments that may be distracting for students, or may not be appropriate. SafeShare.TV offers a simple service that allows you to play and share a YouTube video without these distractions.
This short video would be excellent for prompting discussion or student research for 6-8 grade science students. Be sure to check out the other great short videos from the "Its Okay to be Smart" YouTube channel as well. Remember, students are not currently able to access YouTube from their devices, so you will need to project this video for the class if you want to use it.

Another curated, organized collection of educational videos. Curated by teachers, wiki-style, these videos are assigned a age group and are organized by subject and topic. This site began in Mississippi and still has some excellent Mississippi-focused content. Many of the videos are hosted on YouTube. Videos on this site WILL be viewable by students on the student network.
