PARCC Task Prototypes and New Sample Items for ELA/literacy | PARCC - 1 views

  •
In a press release on Monday, August 19, PARCC, the assessment consortium developing the CCSS tests, announced the release of additional paper-based sample test items in ELA and math. This is great news for us as we work to implement CCSS and PARCC-like assessment in our classrooms. On the PARCC website, you will see a list of links for each grade level and subject in the left sidebar. Visiting each link brings you to a page with a table describing the kinds of tasks that will appear on the PARCC assessment. Links to the sample items are within this table. Let us know if you have any questions!

Welcome to Museum Box, This site provides the tools for you to build up an argument or description of an event, person or historical period by placing items in a virtual box. What items, for example, would you put in a box to describe your life; the life of a Victorian Servant or Roman soldier; or to show that slavery was wrong and unnecessary? You can display anything from a text file to a movie. You can also view and comment on the museum boxes submitted by others. More...

Infuse learning, like Socrative, is a web-based learner response solution that can work on any internet-connected device.  With this solution, learner response is simple.  This is especially appropriate for the BYOD classroom.  This system allows the creation of "whiteboard" items where students draw their responses.

The Sourcebook for Teaching Science: Periodic Tables - 0 views

  •
What is this thing, this periodic table? It's a crucial part of chemistry, and millions of students encounter this fine and elegant visualization of substances every year. Professor Norman Herr has created this helpful trove of resources and links that can be used by both teachers and students. The items here are divided into four sections: Online Periodic Tables, Tables for Printing, Periodic Table Powerpoint Presentations, and Classroom and Laboratory Activities to Build Understanding of the Periodic Table. The first section here offers five great dynamic versions of the periodic tables, complete with helpful links to outside resources and related materials. Also, the Classroom and Laboratory Activities area includes two fun activities, one presents the colors of the periodic table and the other is a chapter from the b ook "Hands-on Chemistry."
