This website lists some really great books and things to encourage students to read and learn. It incorporates activities where students sound out their words and match letters.

Wonderful educational game site for learning! Offers a variety of math and reading fun to keep students interested in learning. Mostly enjoyed by the K-5 grades.

This activity can focus on standard 4.RL.3.2. It helps the students to learn the sounds of words, then asks them to read through a poem or story and answer questions relating to different perspectives and story lines.

This website has many different lesson plans including daily, weekly and by grade. This is also a good website compared to the DID model in the book.

Sometimes it is hard for kids with special needs to use their fingers. Some of these apps discussed on this site help students use their fingers by tracing letters or spelling their name on a tablet. This site offers apps for math, reading, matching, spelling, memory, and more. Special education kids might need a little bit more stimulation during their learning instead of pencil and paper. Touch tablets allow them to stay interested by learning hands-on and seeing rewards visually.
