22 Best Mobile/Tablet Apps for Kids with Special Needs - 0 views

  •
Sometimes it is hard for kids with special needs to use their fingers. Some of these apps discussed on this site help students use their fingers by tracing letters or spelling their name on a tablet. This site offers apps for math, reading, matching, spelling, memory, and more. Special education kids might need a little bit more stimulation during their learning instead of pencil and paper. Touch tablets allow them to stay interested by learning hands-on and seeing rewards visually.

I LOVE this site!!! I believe in standing up and moving between subjects. Kids' brains need breaks to become stimulated and to get oxygen every once in a while. Brain breaks also give students something fun to look forward to after hard work. This site allows teachers to create a playlist of fun brain breaks. These are great to reduce antsy behaviors and to keep kids with special needs in line.

Physical Education in the Classroom - 0 views

I personally think that reading is a huge part of improving English proficiency. Reading logs helps children keep track of their own improvement and also work towards a reward. When I was a kid we got a free personal pan pizza from pizza hut.

Physical activity is being over shone by the heavy emphasis on standardized testing. A great way to keep children active is to incorporate movement into your academic lesson plans. This is a great website that lets you filter-search your lesson plans and best of all, it's free!

How to Make an Ant Farm Jar and Watch an Ant Colony Build Mazes - Kids Crafts & Activities - 0 views

  •
To cover science standard 1.4.3, I would love to have my students build this ant habitat in a jar for the classroom. From this, students could observe the lifestyle of an ant and all the hard work they do. Drawing a replica of what they see in their jar would be a great art activity to combine with this idea.
