Is exercising in the morning best for your body? - Health & Wellbeing - 0 views

  • But if the sound of your early morning alarm leaves you more likely to slap the snooze button than slip on some sneakers, are you missing out on the best time of day to get active?
  • Given that most of us aren't active enough anyway, getting moving is more important than when we do it,
  • While there's a popular belief that exercising in the morning may be more effective for weight loss, Guelfi says we still don't have the scientific evidence to back that up.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • Another common idea is that because heart attacks and other cardiac events occur more frequently in the morning, people who are at increased risk should exercise vigorously only in the afternoon. However in a 2007 scientific statement, the American Heart Association said cardiac events during exercise were relatively rare.
  • Research shows later in the day, when our body temperature and muscle strength are at their peak tends to be best for exercises that require substantial physical effort. But skill-based exercises, or ones that require fine motor control, are better performed in the morning.

Should I increase weight lifting every time I work out? - 0 views

    • Gurkirat S

This is perfect, it's totally, it answers my question. So, yes I should increase weight lifting weight but it all depends on my capability, of how far I am able to push myself. So, the 4 main things to do is, first to stop over-training, switch it up, add some extra fuel and balance your routine.
  • It is common to want to increase your weight lifting weight. Stepping up to the next level depends on several factors, primarily your routine and your capability. Below are some suggestions on how to enhance your workout. Keep in mind that if you intend to increase your weight lifting weight you will be susceptible to gaining bulk and strength as opposed to sculpted toning and increased flexibility.
  • 1. Stop Over-training You may think you are doing your body good by lifting five to six days per week, but when specific muscle groups are being over worked, you will have a difficult time increasing your lifting weight. If you have "hit the wall" and cannot go any further, this would be the time to check your routine. By cutting back on exercises that may be working certain muscles too hard, you may be able to increase your weight, and best of all, your strength. Try these tips each time you cannot advance to more weight. Choose a muscle group that you workout two or more times per week. Cut back to one time, for two weeks. Increase your weight.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • 2. Switch It Up Doing the same exercise, on the same day, at the same time will bore your muscles just as much as it is probably boring you. Jolt your body’s expectations by completely changing your lifting schedule. If you do chest work on a specific day choose another day to do that exercise. You may want to switch it up every week. After doing this for about four weeks, slowly increase your weight. You should see an improvement. in addition, watch your form. Compromised form can also impede increasing your weightlifting weight.
  • 3. Add Some Extra Fuel There is a reason why so many weightlifters consume formulated shakes, bars and supplements. Whether it is protein, amino acids or a multivitamin, these products can enhance power and strength. The only way to find out what is best for you is by trial and error. Start with a good protein shake and take note of any improved capability when increasing your weightlifting weight. If it works, then continue using it. If it does not work then try another formula. Speak to your doctor before attempting any muscle building program. Certain formulas can affect people in different ways.
  • 4. Balance Your Routine If your routine favors specific muscle groups over others, increasing weightlifting weight will always be a challenge. For example, when the biceps are at their peak and the triceps are trying to catch up, not only will your balance be compromised but you will also risk potential injury. Understanding your muscles and how they work will do wonders for your workout. Look up images and descriptions of the musculoskeletal anatomy and take note of the intricate levels of muscle tissue. Becoming familiar with muscle actions will create a picture in your head during your workout that will remind you of a properly balanced routine. When the muscles are within the same power capability, then you should be able to increase your weightlifting weight accordingly.

How long should I being working out for? - 0 views

    • Gurkirat S

The amount of time I should being working out for is at least 60 minutes three days out of a week. Any kind of activities, that will help me build my muscles and bones stronger for example, like of how I go to the gym, and it helps my body in general stronger and gives me more strength as well. Also, this means that I don't have to do a continuous workout, I just got do 60 minutes in total, doesn't matter of what I do, as long as I'm using muscles to do it. For example, I can do 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes during the evening.
  • Daily Cardio Needs Most teenagers should aim for at least 60 minutes of exercise every day, most of which should come from moderate-intensity cardio exercises such as brisk walking or vigorous cardio exercises such as running, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Include vigorous activity in your workout sessions at least three days each week. Although you need about 60 total minutes of exercise a day, the length of any one exercise session can be shorter. For example, you could do two 30-minute sessions or four 15-minute sessions spread throughout your day.
  • Daily Strengthening Needs Activities that strengthen your bones and muscles should be a part of your 60 minutes of exercise at least three days out of the week. Activities such as gymnastics build your muscle and bone strength, but a gym workout also helps. Strengthening exercise options include body weight workouts such sa pull-ups and crunches, resistance tubing exercises, free-weight exercises and weight machine exercises, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Should I rest my muscles after working out? - 0 views

    • Gurkirat S

So, it is recommended that you rest your muscles for atleast 48 hours, for weightlifting sessions, so you can completely recovery and heal. But even after waiting for 48 hours, your body is still very sore, wait for another day. But this is for beginners like me, who are more likely to be more sore at first and the ones who are more highly advanced in weightlifting will, might even need more rest for their muscles to recover and heal.
  • Rest Needed You can complete cardiovascular workouts nearly every day. The American Council on Exercise recommends that those looking to lose weight perform cardiovascular workouts four to six days per week. Your muscles require about 48 hours of rest in between weight training sessions in order to fully recover and heal, according to the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. If you wait 48 hours between your weight training workouts and still are feeling fatigued and sore, consider waiting another day before completing your next training session. Beginners who are likely to be more sore or advanced lifters that perform high volume weight training sessions may need more rest for their muscles to recover.

What I should being eating after working out? And why? - 0 views

    • Gurkirat S

This website really answers my question on should I be eating after working out ? I have learned that I should replace my fluids in body, due to that when I sweat, I'm losing fluids from my body. To replace it, is by determining of how much to drink, either if it's water or a sports drink. To find out of how how much water you should be drinking, is to first weight yourself, so if you lose 1 lb, you should drink 20-24 oz of water and you keeping adding on ounces, for every pound you lost. For food wise, it's important to regain your carbohydrates, you should have a fruit or juice within 15 minutes to help restore glycogen. Glycogen in other words is a substance deposited in bodily tissues as a store of carbohydrates.

Learn to Love A.M. Exercise - 0 views

      neither am I
  • “Top Ten Reasons” for getting up with the early birds to get moving: Exercising early in the morning "jump starts" your metabolism, keeping it elevated for hours, sometimes for up to 24 hours! As a result, you’ll be burning more calories all day long—just because you exercised in the morning.
  • ...4 more annotations...
  • Exercising in the morning energizes you for the day—not to mention that gratifying feeling of virtue you have knowing you’ve done something disciplined and good for you
  • Studies have shown that exercise significantly increases mental acuity—a benefit that lasts four to ten hours after your workout ends. Exercising in the a.m. means you get to harness that brainpower, instead of wasting it while you’re snoozing.
  • Assuming you make exercise a true priority, it shouldn’t be a major problem to get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier—especially since regular exercise generally means a higher quality of sleep, which in turn means you’ll probably require less sleep.
  • When you exercise at about the same time every morning—especially if you wake up regularly at about the same time—you’re regulating your body's endocrine system and circadian rhythms. Your body learns that you do the same thing just about every day, and it begins to prepare for waking and exercise several hours before you actually open your eyes. That’s beneficial because:  Your body’s not “confused” by wildly changing wake-up times, which means waking up is much less painful. (You may even find that you don’t need an alarm clock most days.) Hormones prepare your body for exercise by regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood flow to muscles, etc. Your metabolism, along with all the hormones involved in activity and exercise, begin to elevate while you're sleeping. As a result, you’ll feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake up.  Many people find that morning exercise has a tendency to regulate their appetite for the rest of the day. Not only do they eat less (since activity causes the release of endorphins, which in turn diminishes appetite), they also choose healthier portions of healthier foods.  People who consistently exercise find, sometimes to their great surprise, that the appointed time every morning evolves into something they look forward to. Besides the satisfaction of taking care of themselves, they find it’s a great time to plan their day, pray, or just think more clearly—things most of us often don’t get to do otherwise.  Exercising first thing in the morning is the most foolproof way to ensure that other things don’t overtake your fitness commitment, particularly if you have a hectic family life. (It’s so easy to wimp out in the evening, when we’re tired or faced with such tasks as rustling up dinner and helping with homework.)  More than 90% of those who exercise consistently have a morning fitness routine. If you want to exercise on a regular basis, the odds are in your favor if you squeeze your workout into the a.m.  Non-morning people can always trick themselves in the a.m. Having trouble psyching yourself up for a sunrise jog? Do what I did—tell yourself that you’ll still be so fast asleep that you won’t even remember—much less mind!

What should I eat to make more muscles? - 0 views

  • Calorie Intake Building muscle requires eating a caloric surplus, meaning you eat more calories than you burn during the day. When adding these calories, choose whole, natural foods as often as possible. Adding about 250 to 500 calories per day helps support 1/2 to 1 lb. of muscle growth weekly.
  • Protein Needs
  • Strength-training athletes should aim for the higher end of this range. Whole sources of protein, such as lean meats, poultry breast, fish, eggs and dairy are readily digested and used by the body to build muscle. These sources also contain minimal saturated fats, too much of which may cause fat gain and health problems. The occasional use of whey protein, or other protein supplements, may help you get all the protein you need to support your workouts and muscle growth.
  • ...2 more annotations...
  • Carbohydrates Carbohydrates provide fuel for your body to make it through workouts. Carbohydrates are also a source of calories, helping you achieve that surplus to support muscle growth. The body converts carbohydrates into glycogen, which is stored in muscles and affects anabolism -- or muscle growth.
  • hoose whole grains, vegetables and fruits for these carbohydrates, as they provide the most nutrients and fiber. Oatmeal, brown rice, sweet potatoes, leafy greens and apples, for example, are superior to sugary baked goods or white breads and rice for muscle growth.

When building up, I need to assume more calories, I should be adding about 250 to 500calories per day, because it will help me support 1/2 to 1 lb of muscle growth weekly. Should I be having protein bars, after I workout? - 1 views

  •
There are good protein bars for you and bad protein bars. To distinguish the difference, good protein bars would contain things like less sugar and have high carbohyrdrates and proteins. But something that is even better than protein bars, is protein shakes because shakes are digested faster by your body than solid food. Also you have more control over the protein shake than a bar, due to the fact, you can make your protein shake from scratch and know what's being put into it. Only good thing about protein bars is that they are convienent when you don't have time to whip up a protein shake. Another way is you don't need to have protein bars nor shakes, you can simply take natural alternatives like nuts, which are high in protein, healthy and convienent too.

How I can tell if I am working out hard enough or not? - 0 views

    • Gurkirat S

I can tell now, if I am working out hard or not.  I can distinguish if I am working out hard is by finding out my heart rate, which allow me to know if I am actually working out my body. And your to find your heart rate it's explained how to do it, which is perfect for me, to know of how really hard have I worked out.
  • Heart Rate Ideally, cardio exercise should keep your heart rate somewhere between 60% and 80% of max.   Anything less and you’re not really working out very hard.  Anything more and you’re placing too much strain on your body. What’s My Max Heart Rate? A rough estimate of your max heart rate is 220 minus your age.  So for me, being 34, my max heart rate is 186.  That means that if I want to keep my workout between 60 and 80%, I should keep it somewhere between 111 and 148.
