The guidance argues seven main points to write social media policy: examine the school culture, organize team, research phase, draft document and incorporate feedback, make sure school attorney and school board to see the draft, introduction to the school community, and review periodically. It is crucial the policy is supported by school board and promote the policy so that community knows well the policy.Policy should be review periodically to ensure it meets school culture.

With an online presence now paramount, many libraries, archives and museums have created, or are looking to create, a social media policy; one that will dictate an accepted level of interaction and outline how practitioners within these cultural heritage institutions use social media. But is the use of social media policy in direct defiance of the purpose of social media? And more importantly, is it practical for cultural heritage institutions to have one?

This article was aimed to report how successful of developing the social media policies at the State Library of Queensland, Queensland State Archives and Queensland Museum. The author would like to use these organizations' experiences for encouraging more librarians and other practitioners to develop their own social media policies. It could help to maintain the secuity of information and increase the interactions between the organizations and users that the social media is the good communication tools for them.

Taylor & Francis sought to address some of these questions by conducting research into how the library community is currently using and applying social media. Libraries have been particularly prevalent in their uptake of social media, and use it as a key medium for engaging with their users.

In this concise four page guide (produced by Edutopia in collaboration with Facebook) educator and author Steven Anderson (@web20classroom) provides a very practical, step-by-step guide to developing a school social media policy. The seven steps start with "Examine your school culture" and conclude with "Review periodically".
