Ergonomics for Kids - 1 views

  •
By Christina Elston Watching your little darlings madly cutting down monsters with the Xbox, slouched at the keyboard earning "KinzCash" for their Webkinz, or repeatedly texting their BFF might give you plenty of concerns. Is that game too violent? What about online predators? And what do they charge for texting on my wireless plan, anyway?

Visitability | basic access to homes - 1 views

This is a simple little reminder of what visitability is and how it makes a home a welcome spot for people with kids to the elderly. I thought is was short and simple, and that made me want to post it.
  •
My friend that has ALS comes over to visit quite often. We do not have a zero entry. What we do have is a portable ramp that she uses to get in the one small step at the back of the house. I wonder why the term visitability only includes a zero entry and wouldn't consider the use of a portable ramp? Something to think about...

I found a lot of these tips useful! It is important that we take time to ourselves in hopes to maintain a healthy and well balanced life. I especially liked the idea of scheduling a work out so that it doesn't get pushed aside. I know that if I schedule something I am more likely to do it.

Color Identifying Devices for individuals with vision impairments needing help with ADL... - 1 views

  •
I love the idea of this device! I had never heard of anything like it before so when I found this article I was amazed. The Color Identifier would help individulas who are blind perform ADLS, such as dressing, independenlty. It can identify the color of clothing by determining how much light is being reflected. The individual wouldn't have to worry about if their clothes matched or not, which could save them time and embarrassment if they cared about their personal appearance. It also seemed to have very simple instructions, which is a plus.

Aging in place. A site where you can send pts.

This is a whole website dedicated to Aging in Place. They say it is their "mission is to provide Caregivers, Seniors, and Baby Boomers resources for aging in place." There is a blog that gives valuable advice, information, and support. You can even order AE on this site for convenience. I thought this gave a nice all encompassing look at aging in place.
