Ah, the Ninentdo-64. A relic of my childhood, of a life once lived. Well, actually, it would be a relic, if I didn't still own it and play my games from time to time. The N64 was at its best in multiplayer "party" games, where 2-4 people could gather around and play for hours. However, it was 2 single player games that came out on the N64 that forever revolutionized gaming. N64 was the third generation of home entertainment gaming systems produced by Nintendo, its predecessor being the Super Nintendo. N64's main competition came from the original Playstation. While many will argue that Playstation was superior in every aspect, I disagree. While Playstation had a much larger base of game titles to choose from; it was the N64 that had the "can't miss", unbelievable games of their generation. Much was said about how the CD games of the Playstation outperformed the outdated cartridge system of the N64, however, I never experienced any issues with that. I was a proud owner of the N64, and still am today! So, without further ado, and with apologies to games like Star Fox 64 and 1080 Snowboarding, I present the top 5 games ever made for the Nintendo 64!

Originally designed to be a peripheral for the Super Nintendo, Sony's PlayStation brand would go on a steady climb through the late 1990s to dominate the market for two generations of games. But before it could get there, it would have to go toe to toe with the giants of the 16-bit era, Nintendo and Sega. The PlayStation, sometimes referred to as the PS, PS1, or even PSX, would also see an influx of gamers coming into the field while an older generation began looking for more mature titles. The little gray console would see one of the longest production runs in gaming history, running for over 11 years. Production would finally be halted on March 23, 2006.

The Sony PlayStation essentially came out of nowhere in the mid 1990's to take on both Nintendo and Sega in the heated console wars.  With some impressive technology and a heavy marketing budget behind them, Sony rallied a number of the best game developers in the industry to create a powerhouse library of games - many of which laid a solid foundation for generations to come.

A competent repackaging of a 1999 PlayStation compilation, with a lovely 50% extra thrown in (adding up to a total of 15 games, instead of the PSOne's 10), Classics charts the early years at Konami ranging from 1982's Scramble to 1987's Contra (or Gryzor). The package contains all the usual extras such as information on the games, pictures of the game board and scans of the control sheets to ensure you know how to play. As some of the games are vertical and others horizontal, it's possible to choose from various orientations and multiplayer options on some games which, from a single cartridge, is a nice feature. But with any retro collection, we're only really interested in two questions: Are the classic games we really want included, and do they still play well today? We've all been video-game junkies at some point in our lives and some of us may still be addicted. Since about 7 years old, I've been playing almost every video game imaginable, some great and some that were just horrible. I decided to compile a list of my top ten greatest video games of all-time. Whether, the console was Atari, Nintendo, Genesis, Xbox, or Playstation, I'm sure there are a lot of you that will agree on some of these classic games.

One of the greatest old school video game consoles to ever be created was the famous Nintendo 64 console. This console was created as a "one step above" console to topple its Sony Playstation rival. It didn't necessarily topple it, but it did make some amazing games that really pioneered its respective genre to a whole new level. Here are some of the games that really made the Nintendo 64 truly what it is, an awesome video game console that really turned video games to a better direction in development.

Long before there was a Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii, there was the Magnavox Odyssey, the world's first home videogame console. But the story of videogames predates the Odyssey by six years. It begins in 1966 when a television engineer named Ralph H. Baer sat down at a New York bus station and entered history.

I had such a good time listing off my favorite NES games, that I just couldn't resist making a list of my top games for my favorite system - the Super Nintendo. I know the SNES isn't as "retro" as the NES, but just because it's not as old, doesn't mean it's not as good. As you can see, this list consists of 25 games, rather then 20 like my last one. I decided to make it a little longer so I could fit a few more of my favorites in. And, although I like the N64, Playstation, PS2, etc., I definitely won't be making a top list for those systems (not only because they're not retro, but they just aren't as special to me as the NES and SNES).

Usually, when you get a new-to-you console, you can usually find or remember the major games to check out. But what happens when you need something different to play? This is where the "Hidden Gems" come in.

Nintendo took their sweet time in bringing a console to match the Saturn, Playstation and the other 3D "powerhouses" that were popping up in the console market.    And of course, back in the later half of the 1990's many of us made fun of Nintendo as they stuck with the cartridge format instead of joining in on the CD-ROM bandwagon and the multimedia revolution that came with it.  However, for all it's limitations, it is interesting to see some of the things that were capable on the N64 and its aging format.   There are also a number of great games that only Nintendo and Rareware could provide that you just won't find anywhere else.

Video games have made incredible strides over the past decade. Improvements were made in game play, controls, story telling, graphics, and of course multiplayer modes. While the Internet has changed video games, mostly for the better, the big three home consoles, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, and X Box 360 offer some horsepower for video gamers of all ages. The two biggest handhelds on the market namely the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS offer convenience and portability as well as power that easily equals last generations home consoles. But video games are not strictly a console-based commodity any more. The home computer has seen its share of video games as well, and just might be the gaming machine of the future. While looking ahead is fine and necessary, taking a step back to grade the top ten video games of the decade is difficult for many gamers. Of course, the decade was driven by many franchises; so many franchise games make appearances on the top ten video games of the decade.

Dreamcast is hailed by video game players as the machine that could have been great, but thanks to the mass popularity of Sony and its push for more advanced hardware (in some ways) Dreamcast was killed coming out of the gates; doomed to suck the smoke of the Playstation 2 and X-box. The machine itself was impressive though and brought console gamers on to the Internet before Internet gaming with consoles was even the big thing. I owned a Dreamcast and thought it was awesome, though my game collection was not a list of titles hailed by purist. However, I can still name my top five games, regardless of the mass opinion on any of these, they brought me a lot of fun for a long time.

The Sega Dreamcast is everyone's favorite hardcore system. Even when the mass market shunned it and went for the Playstation 2 instead, hardcore gamers still loved the Dreamcast to death. Although the games were some of the best and innovative of the era, sales were lacking. For the games that sold well, they were repackaged with a "Sega All Stars" label and released for a budget price. Here are the top five best games of the Sega All Stars for the Sega Dreamcast.
