Leadership Quote - 1 views

  •
Sometimes a quote conveys an idea in a very effective way. This quote captures the role of the Project Manager as a leader who is focused on supporting the success of others.
  •
Good quote to help people remember that leaders are in some ways similar to coaches - they help others to do their best and be great.
  •
Great quote! That's what true leaders do when they put ego aside

His book helps team members to realize the importance of emotions when working with a team. I use this book in my administration class because we must always remember the human factor when working in groups to accomplish a task.

12 Brain Rules -- illustrated | Brain Rules | - 4 views

  •
Brain Rules by John J. Medina is a multimedia project explaining how the brain works. It includes a book, a feature-length documentary film, and a series of interactive tutorials. *Information in this book helps PM's to understand some of the dynamics of the human brain and to reflect on how making small changes can have lasting effects. Example - having a meeting while going for a walk or that vision trumps all other senses.*

Make Your Emotions Work for You in Negotiations - 2 views

  •
#2 is important to recognize. When one can identify emotional triggers then it is easier to learn to work with others who may accidentally set off those emotions without meaning too. Human beings unconsciously reflection and interpret others emotions so it is important to understand your own.
  •
#1 Mindfulness meditation has been practiced by the buddhist monks for centuries. Brain imaging studies show that an eight week course of this meditation can affect the brain by reducing flight/fight and increasing concentration http://blogs.scientificamerican.com/guest-blog/2014/06/12/what-does-mindfulness-meditation-do-to-your-brain/

Can't agree more with the idea that we need to reflect on and recognize our emotions. We spend far too much time doing it to others, but often forget to look inside.

Murphy's Seven C's of Effective Communication - 3 views

  •
In researching effective communication for project managers, my team determined that quality communication is a critical component. We reference the book "Effective Business Communications" by Herta Murphy, Herbert Hildebrandt and Jane Thomas. This eHow article summarizes the author's "seven c's" of effective communication directly from the book. These communication skills, both oral and written, are the foundation for helping you express yourself clearly and correctly.

I have used GoToMeeting and GoToTraining a lot and love them!
  •
I have used GoToWebinar and I loved it. It is easy to use and professional looking. I am curious to try GoToMeeting and GoToTraining.
  •
It is interesting to me that so many people like GoToMeeting/Webinar/Training. I've had mixed experiences with it. It lacks some of the functionality of other tools like Adobe Connect (chat features vary depending on which version you have, playing videos is very problematic, relies on screen sharing to share documents and do presentations). We do a lot of webinars, many with very large audiences (300-1000 people). While this is fine for meetings and daily business. I don't recommend this for large groups., It also isn't good if you want to have a virtual room when you can leave your documents, notes etc.

Scrum Alliance - 1 views

  •
This site provides a good overview of the Scrum methodology and information about training and certification programs. I went through an onsite Scrum Master course a year ago and was recently reminded that it was time to renew my certification. The Scrum Master test was pretty easy right after the training.
