This broadcast will incorporate the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Learn the Signs. Act Early. (LTSAE) messages as well as NYS specific resources to increase awareness about LTSAE and importance of understanding developmental milestones and making appropriate and timely referrals when there is a concern. The broadcast will also highlight resources in New York State. Parents and professionals tend to frame healthy development of children in terms of height, weight, and language acquisition. Despite the fact that the American Academy of Pediatrics has recommended universal screening for development and for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) since 2006, the majority of children are not being screened by standardized screening tools. In addition to screening, when a concern is raised, parents and professionals are not aware of the importance of early intervention or the availability of resources. The broadcast will highlight information about ASD and general developmental screening, including many free resources available for parents to better understand their child's development through the age of five years old, as well as materials to help parents talk with their child's health care provider about any concerns. For professionals, the broadcast will highlight the importance of routine developmental screening and resources for them and parents with whom they work. Learning Objectives

The MCH Library at Georgetown University, with support from the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau presents a new knowledge path, Spanish-Language Health Resources. The knowledge path directs readers to resources in Spanish about health promotion, medical conditions, diseases, treatments, health insurance, access to care, and life stages and populations. This professional development data base within the OPI website contains hundreds of video clips, lessons, and resources that can be downloaded onto your computer and iPod. This resource is a direct result of the Montana Reading First project. However, it also contains content for teachers Pre-K through high school. Knowing that statewide professional development is extremely difficult because of the rural nature of our state, the Montana Reading First project director, Debbie Hunsaker, planned and initiated this resource called ‘Knowledge Box’. Throughout the implementation of the Reading First project, national and local presenters were filmed and the content was edited into short video clips, resources, and lessons. The Family Voices National Center for Family and Professional Partnerships is hosting this webinar presented by Suzanne M. Bronheim, PhD of Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development. Suzanne will share findings from a 2010 research partnership with three Family-to-Family Health Information Centers (F2F HICs) to better understand how Hispanic/Latino families' and African American families' utilization of F2F HICs might be increased. This research project is based on a social marketing theory that suggests that people try new things if that "innovation" fits with their values and experience, seems to have an advantage over other approaches, is easy to use, can be tried and dropped if they don't like it and if others they know and trust are also aware of it and have used it. The project has used this framework to study how Hispanic/Latino and African American families prefer to receive information and how they view the F2F HICs as a resource. In addition, this project has studied similar issues for the social networks of families to learn how they view and access F2F HICs. Suzanne will be joined by staff of the F2F HICs that partnered in this project to share lessons learned and suggestions of how other F2F HICs can use this framework.

The Gallatin Valley Resource Guide for Parents of Children with Disabilities is a reference source that has been created for parents and those who serve children with developmental delays and disabilities age birth to 18 in Gallatin County, specifically Bozeman and Belgrade. The guide contains over 250 resources for parents of children with disabilities, 95 specific to Gallatin Valley and an additional 58 unique to Montana. This guide was created by me as a final project (May 2011) for a Master’s of Science degree in Health and Human Development at Montana State University. The internet version of the guide will be maintained by the Bozeman chapter of the Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEPTA). PLUK has been included as a resource. It would be most appreciated if you could include a link to the guide on your webpage. Families in Partnership Inc. is gearing up for the 6th annual Families in Partnership Early Childhood Fair (formerly The Prenatal to Five Fair). We are looking for community resources who might want to participate by entering to have a table with information and children's activities. The theme for the fair is "Plant a seed and watch it grow." The idea of the early childhood fair is to provide community resources, in one location, at one time, at no cost. The fair is met to be fun, but informational and connect young families to needed community resources. A few of the many opportunities available at the fair are a kids zumba class (MAC), Libby Fire Department puppet show, Frontier Communications kids fingerprint kits, Quasadillas by Rosita's, face painting and more. There are no fees for having a table at the fair, but we require that you do not sell anything at your table; rather, offer free information and children's activities. When:
