The College of Direct Supports
Two-day training streamed to sites across Montana.
A limited stipend for persons extended distances from training sites will be available on a case-by-case basis
Why Be Certified?To be paid, the Support Broker must be certified by the State of Montana Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP).

What:
The Developmental Program in conjunction with the Montana Council on Developmental Disabilities will be holding a series of town hall meetings this fall. The purpose of the meetings are to gather input from individuals, families and other stakeholders regarding current supports and services as well as ideas on how they can better meet the needs of individuals. Two more meetings are scheduled.

What:
The October topic will be Autism 101 and will cover basic information about the disorder. Later monthly session topics will include ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis), PBS (Positive Behavior Supports), Communication, and Evidence Based Intervention. This training and each of the following autism trainings will be held on the first Monday of each month at 2:00pm to 4:00pm. So, you can plan ahead and mark your calendars.

For these training sessions, you will be using the VisionNet bridge, so you can choose to go to a VisionNet site (school, etc.) or you can request a link to participate from any computer with internet access. In 2009, the Developmental Disabilities Program (DDP) within Montana’s Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) began the Children’s Autism Waiver (CAW) as way to provided intensive (20 hours a week), applied behavior analysis to young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families. The Medicaid waiver program is state-wide and provides services for 50 children at a time. The first cohort of children who have completed the services have just exited. As part of the exit procedure, a comprehensive evaluation was completed.

Our friends at the DDP state office are inviting all of us, plus parents and any interested folks statewide to join them on a statewide call to educate, inform, and answer any questions folks have about the Children's Autism Waiver. We have created two forms for folks to submit questions, and to sign up to receive notice of future calls. It is planned that the DDP state office will plan periodic calls like this for parents on needed topics. Feel free to distribute widely. Folks may email PLUK with questions at info@pluk.org.
