Google Trends Visualizer - 0 views

  •
Google Trends is a way to search what is currently popular searches on Google's Search engine. This is a visualizer for that which means that it is an easy way to look at what is effectively a list of what the world cares most about currently. I could have written some huge philosophical thing about this link, but in reality it's a pretty screensaver.
  •
So, it sounds as if you do NOT recommend using this? I don't need a pretty screen saver in my life, for sure. But if there is anything to be learned by the wisdom of the crowds, this might be a place to learn? I really don't have any skin in this game and just wonder what you think.

Brain (Human Anatomy): Picture, Function, Parts, Conditions, and More - 0 views

  •
This website gives a lot of information in an overview format of the brain and the nervous system, brain tests, and treatments. Also listed are a few brain conditions (ie. headaches, aneurysms, etc). At the bottom of the website are many other similar resources for further research. This is a reliable and useful source because upon checking the sources I found that the information is written by doctors. This source was very helpful in terms of hindering a basic understanding of the brain. The diagram is helpful in visualizing the different parts of the brain.

Inspired Picture Writing - PicLit - 0 views

  •
This tool is great to help students with their creative writing. The site provides visually stunning images with a bank of words for writing a poem, descriptive paragraph, or caption. Lists of words are categorized by verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, and with an additional universal list. The work is public, supports vocabulary building, and helps with word relationships and nuances in word meanings.

Pinterest - 0 views

Pinterest is a visual discovery tool that people use to collect ideas for their different hobbies and projects. People post collections on "boards" of visual bookmarks (Pins). These collections are used to do things like plan trips and projects, organize events or save articles and recipes. This particular board is full of American and European woodblock prints made between the years of 1880-1935. There is a subfocus of trees and landscape.

Chemical Cycles - 0 views

  •
Since we have been learning about chemical cycles, in my Biology class, this website has been very helpful. This really helped me study for my Biology midterm exam because I was able to have a visual model of what all the chemical cycles looked like. I could go to this site and get a lot of information on the water, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen cycle. Even though we were taught all of this in class, it helped me to read more information on it so I could have a better understanding on the subject.

A Christmas Carol - 0 views

I watched the movie version of "A Christmas Carol" with Kelsey Grammar and Jennifer Love Hewitt. This version is the one closest to the musical script that we used for the fall musical. An enjoyable movie that helped me visualize the characters and understand the story in another way.

Three-dimensional Character Questions - 1 views

  •
12/4/13 I found this article on how to make an actor become a three-dimensional character. The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts Dee Cannon shares the ten questions that actors need to investigate about their character to make them a fully-idealised person instead of just a character's dialogue with a visual of them. The ten questions and Cannon's advice on how to answer the questions through your character's point of view helped me to understand how professional actor's are able to become the character. A couple of the questions reminded me of what I talked about with Jen Allred about how to act my break-up scene in "A Christmas Carol" well. It also gave me other suggestions that I will use the next character I act.

Step By Step Geodesic Dome Video - 0 views

  •
Work with Nature. "How to Make a Geodesic Dome / Geo Dome / Bio Dome." YouTube. YouTube, 07 Aug. 2012. Web. 09 Oct. 2013. . This is a Youtube video sponsored by Work with Nature where a man shows on camera, step by step, his building geodesic domes (including his calculations and math). He made this video to help other people who are eager in building domes and to tell people about his business of selling these domes to people who don't want the excitement of building their own. The video uses metal piping and it covers cutting the metal, drilling holes, pressing it, attaching them, the math, the construction, what materials to use, and how to cover the dome. This video will be the most helpful tool I will use during my ILO, because as of October 7th, I have decided to use metal piping for a greenhouse and this video is the perfect step-by-step visual instructor. I will basically follow these steps exactly with maybe some background research and experiments from other websites. I have spent a lot of time on YouTube looking for other videos of this caliber, but this one is by far the best. I've read the reviews and comments for this video and it looks like other people have successfully made domes using this video. This video has already proven a huge help to me. Through this video I have made decisions like what materials to use, how to attach them, and how to do the math that is necessary in making a dome. This source is easy to use, and when you miss a step it is easy to go back and watch it until you have it down perfectly. This video has made me much more confident going ahead with my project now that I have such an easy, usable model to go off of. I highly recommend using this source if you need to make a geodesic dome.

Math Formulas - 0 views

  •
I recently found a website that is a perfect source to find geometry formulas. It was very useful when I forgot a page of notes with many formulas I needed. This website is very straight forward and has great visuals that helped me understand the math concept. It is very reliable seeing as my answers matched up with the ones on the key, and for that reason I would definitely recommend it. All of the formulas are on the same page, making it very helpful and efficient to do my review worksheets.

Shading Techniques - 0 views

  •
This website is a great source that has taught me a lot about different shading techniques. The purpose of this website is to simple give you shading techniques. This website was really useful for me when I had to bring home artwork to finish and couldn't have the help of an "actual" art teacher. This source is very reliable because the website was created by a former art teacher and student in Scotland. I also found this site helpful from all the descriptions and visuals that helped walk me through the process of shading. I feel like by focusing on little tricks and techniques that were given on this website has made me a better artist and my art pieces more appealing.

Basal Ganglia - 0 views

  •
This site was helpful for visualizing the Basal Ganglia. It has diagrams and depictions of the size of the basal ganglia system to the rest of the brain. It was useful when I was not sure what the basal ganglia system looked like, or what it did. Since the basal ganglia system is a main component of the brain (with the cortex and limbic system being the other important ones in the cerebrum) it is important to understand. I used this source in my brain portfolio, and I also plan to use it in a three dimensional model of the brain that would use the diagrams on the site to create an accurate depiction of the inner brain.
