Units, Dimensions, and Scaling Arguments - 0 views

  •
In this video Professor Lewin does some awesome things, he discuses dimensional analysis in a way that makes dimensional analysis feel simple and intuitive. He explains some of its advantages and some of its weaknesses. This video was also generally a good introduction to the application of units, and scaling arguments.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - 0 views

  •
The Holocaust Memorial site is organized into four different sections: Museum Information, Resources for Academics and Research, Resources for Educators and Resources for Professionals and Student Leaders. This site was created so that people could learn about the Holocaust and look at pictures of the museum without actually being there. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum was very helpful for me during my VHS Holocaust Course because it includes timelines, facts, videos, artifacts, a tour of the ghettos and concentration camps and pictures from the museum. This is the best website that I have found on the Holocaust, it has everything. Also the Holocaust Memorial website is very reliable because I have checked it with other sites and it was used by my teacher (we went on to tour the camps and look up videos). I would definitely recommend this source to anyone who wants to learn about the Holocaust, knows little about the Holocaust or who wants to go to the Museum.

Lesson 1, Unit 2, Level 1 Rosetta Stone Mandarin Chinese - 0 views

  •
This lesson taught me new vocabulary pertaining to how to refer to people and things. I learned how to say things like, "I," "you," and "they." It helped to teach me how to describe, very basically, my feelings toward something. This lesson really helped me to speak Mandarin at a level I was starting to really hope to achieve. I am still extremely basic, but now I can talk about myself and other people instead of just talking about food and basic actions. I would highly recommend getting to at least this lesson in Rosetta Stone because it will really help you to be able to convey much more than what you could before, no matter how basic you still are. This resource is a must to anyone wanted to learn Mandarin Chinese.

Defending Guantanamo Bay Prisoners - 0 views

  •
This video is about the man who defends the prisoners held in Gitmo by the United States and how he does it. It shows how the prisoners are abused and the hunger strikes they go on. I found it interesting how it all connects to the constitution and politics.
  •
I would love to hear more of how this article triggers your connection to the constitution, specifically our judicial branch.

Shakespeare - 0 views

In English we started a Shakespeare unit. While reading Shakespeare many of the words I was not familiar with. I found this site and it helped me to define the meanings of these words. This site is alphabetized so everything is quite easy to find. After I learned what the words meant I felt that I could finally understand what Shakespeare was writing.

D.Comeau Custom Knives - DIY Knifemaker's Info Center: Heat Treatment Oven Project - 0 views

  •
I find it difficult to maintain 1000°C temperatures to truly relax and align the crystalline structures in the steel. So I decided that an electric heat treating oven is the way to go. I have no intention of spending $1000 on an off-the-shelf unit

Biology study site: - 1 views

  •
Summarize: The main points of the Environmental Biology website is to show the five main nutrient cycles: nitrogen, oxygen, carbon, phosphorus and water and how energy flows through ecosystem. The topics covered include: ~the roles of an organism (such as a consumer, herbivores, etc.) ~energy flow through an ecosystem ~food chains and webs/ pyramids and biological magnification ~Humans vs. natural food chains This article goes through the basics of ecology and is very easy to understand. There are pictures of the cycles that relate to the reading. Review and access: This is a wonderful source because it includes all the different nutrient cycles as well as pictures and writing. It also brings up many concepts: bio magnification, the different roles of an organism and human vs. natural food chain. This website doesn't go in depth in a specific part of ecology, but is instead a basic and broad overview of the whole thing. Most websites either only talk about food chains or nutrient cycles, yet this website includes it all. This website is reliable, because I have compared it to other websites and classwork. I would recommend using this website when learning basic ecology or just refreshing your mind because a lot of simple concepts are mentioned. This article won't take long to read, because everything is pretty broad. Reflect: This source was helpful for me when refreshing my knowledge on the water cycle and learning about the oxygen and nitrogen cycle. I have used this site as a notes resource for the ecology unit in my biology class. This site has helped me to better understand the different cycles, the movement of energy through an ecosystem and food chains vs. food webs. ~Riley

Gun control - 0 views

  •
This article is about Obama, the current U.S. President, who is trying to outlaw guns by going behind the citizens backs and making it a crime for any citizen to own a gun by not stopping the U.N. from passing international gun control laws. This will allow the secretary of state, without consent from the citizens of the United States, to decide the gun control laws in our country and across the globe. This article came from CNN, which is a reliable news source. I fear Obama's actions are going to start a civil war if this actually happens because it would violate the second amendment right of all U.S. citizens by creating a larger global law banning guns. I am strongly opposed to the U.N. setting our country's gun control laws and want to protect my current rights as a U.S. citizen.

Tornadoes - 0 views

In this article, a powerful spring storm system has caused tornadoes, killing 29 people in six states throughout the south east of the United States. It is a factual recall of a current event on CNN's website, which is a reliable news source. This article made me realize how serious the storms in the southeastern U.S. were and the magnitude of their death toll. It also made me glad to live in the northeast where tornadoes are very rare.

pH -- Water properties - 0 views

  •
United States Geological Survey (USGS)'s article discusses the definition of pH, its importance, measurement, pH in water quality and pH variation across the US. It's purpose is to get an understanding of what pH is and how it plays a role in the US. The source proved very useful, providing accurate information (some information came from a 2002 country pH survey!).

This site has hundreds of videos on school material. I use this for learning in math outside of school. The videos are great quality; thoughtfully planned and packed with information. Each video gets information across thoroughly by presenting it in an interesting and captivating manner. It is a great tool for both excelling knowledge or just for help. This is a very reliable site, because the information has been tested by the many users, and when I myself researched the topics outside of the site I got similar results to what they were teaching me. I would recommend this to anyone who wants personalized learning in the field of their choosing.

I have been using Khan Academy throughout my AP Calc class. It lets you pick the unit that you might be struggling on, watch videos for clarification, and then do practice problems.
