While at the Vermont Tech Jam last Friday, Oct. 24th I spoke with several people who helped to point me in a positive direction regarding my possible career choices One person I spoke with is Tom Jaros from Empower Mobility. Empower Mobility is a custom app making company. Tom gave me great advice to help me with my own app making endeavors. He told me to start with simple things and work my way up. Another thing he told me was if I wanted to make Apple apps I needed to get an Apple computer. He told me to look for old versions of Mac computers so that I don't have to spend a fortune. I thought the things he told me where valuable points and I would consider asking him for an interview about the coding that are required for creating apps. I may have more to reflect on after asking him more questions and talking with him further. Tom sparked my interest with creating apps and I look forward to branching off into this field.

This website gave me insight on how to write a horror fiction novel and what the do's and don'ts were. It helped me realize what the cliches were because I had never written a horror fiction before and I needed to know what to do and what not to do. This website helped me accomplish that goal.

Mahli is an amazing teacher. She helped me to learn Mandarin at a more precise level. Instead of just teaching me vocabulary, she taught me grammar rules and the tones that are crucial to the Chinese language. She would stay after school with me or meet up with me for around an hour every few days and we would go over things that I needed and/or wanted to know and she would help me with them and she would also critique my Chinese. Mahli studied abroad to China, so she knows the difficulties of learning Mandarin, so she is extra patient with you. She is really a great teacher and to anybody who would like some advice on Mandarin Chinese, I would certainly recommend talking to Mahli.

This website gave me information that I never knew. It said to worry about chapters after you were finished writing the piece. This tip was made so that you focus on writing your story and what you need to put in instead of worrying about what part goes into what chapter. This website helped me figure out how to do that and it was incredibly helpful for where I am right now in my book.

This website helped me figure out what type of perspective I wanted to write my novel in. The website explained what types of stories each point of view went with. It also told me how to write in that perspective and what style each point of view was like.

This website helped me learn how to write dialogue smoothly and flow-like like in a movie or in a real life conversation. It told me what to do and what not to do which was helpful. I learned that dialogue sets the character's mood towards another character in the story and that was something that I wanted to learn more on. Like with any social network, be careful. Not everyone on there is a person just like you trying to learn a new language. But that aside, this website was really great for me to talk with people who knew Mandarin Chinese and were willing to help. Some people I just had quick conversations with that only lasted a few sentences, others I still talk to today. The person that knows Mandarin that I still talk to lives in China and is always happy to help me with the tones and to have conversations with me and teach me how to say things like a normal Chinese person would say them. This is a really great resource for person to person interaction. But again, be careful, as always.

Biology online is a website that helped me throughout the course of the second semester. Its main purpose is to provide definitions for Biology terms. Whenever I was confused about a term or topic we were covering in Biology this site helped me understand. It is useful because all the definitions are so easily accessible. This source is very reliable and in depth, it gives the same definitions that are in class notes. I would recommend this website, it has helped me with so many homework assignments and helped me study for tests. This source gives direct answers and spot on examples to help people get a better understanding of the overall topic.

This website is a great source that has taught me a lot about different shading techniques. The purpose of this website is to simple give you shading techniques. This website was really useful for me when I had to bring home artwork to finish and couldn't have the help of an "actual" art teacher. This source is very reliable because the website was created by a former art teacher and student in Scotland. I also found this site helpful from all the descriptions and visuals that helped walk me through the process of shading. I feel like by focusing on little tricks and techniques that were given on this website has made me a better artist and my art pieces more appealing.
