  • 35 Genres and Other Varieties of Fiction
  •
This website was helpful when I started out. It was one of the first ones that I used and I used it to help me figure out what kinds of genres for fiction writing there were out there. This website helped me narrow down what kinds of genres that I was interested in and then lead me to researching more about the ones I liked.

African children being poisoned by electronic waste in Ghana - 1 views

  •
The Article linked above is about children in Ghana, Africa getting poisoned by chemicals that are in the electronic waste fields there. Its very informative and horrifying that we are one of the three largest contributors to these waste fields.
  •
This article is especially disturbing considering I am a heavy user of computer components. There has got to be a better way to deal with this waste.

It will be good to see what the more recent regulations and how to enforce them was discussed this week.

This site is useful because kombucha, a fermented cultured tea, is manufactured in Bristol, Vt and Aiden works there. He works mostly bottling and labeling all bottles they produce. He sometimes serves customers from the taps on site. Customers come in and refill their growlers there because its cheaper than buying it at a retail stores. This site offers contact information for the owners and crew, information about how they make kombucha and where they get there ingredients from.

Summarize: The main points of this website are different for each chapter. Each book chapter has many online activities to help you cement the Spanish into your brain. The purpose of this website is to practice Spanish through a series of different activities; depending on which lesson that you are on there are certain practices that you can do. There are also many topics depending on the lesson that you are working on practicing, for example in lesson 5A: birthdays and families are the two things to study. This lesson is all about teaching people how to talk about specific family members, how old they are and what things you would see/ have at a party. This website includes lots of information on speaking Spanish. If you are interested in culture that I would look elsewhere, but if you have a Realidad's book along with the book codes found in each lesson, than this is a very practical website for studying and practicing your vocabulary. Review and access: Phschool is a super useful source when studying or practicing. There is a test preparation for each lesson and I use it to see if I have understood all the vocab in each chapter. Other sources haven't been as helpful to me, because they don't follow the Realidad's lessons exactly and don't have all the concepts in our chapters. The information given is definitely reliable because it goes along with a Spanish textbook that our Spanish teacher from Spain recommends using to study. I would recommend this website to anyone who is learning Spanish, because it has helped me learn mine. In the beginning of the lesson everything is fairly easy and as you work your way through the practice the Spanish gets harder until you eventually get to the test preparation. Reflect: This source is very helpful and I continue to use it. Each practice takes between 1-10 minutes depending on how fluent you are at your Spanish. This source has helped to direct my studying and practicing so that I have less to do later on and mor

Interior Paints and Indoor Air Pollution - 0 views

This site includes facts about how different paints can effect the environment. Included in this website there is a table which shows how much chemicals are released by different kinds of paint. In the article there seemed to be a lot of information that told you what the chemicals were. Thanks to this site, I will definitely look more into which type of flat latex paint I will use for the mural that will be better for the environment and will be better for the people that are going to be around the paint. Although almost all paints have chemicals in them, this website is great if you are trying to be careful about making the people in the environment around the painting sick. There aren't many affects listed due to the chemicals in the paint, but this article makes you think differently. Normally, chemicals are not known to be good for people, and this site makes you think differently about what paint you use, even if you've never thought about it before.

Types of Deer - 0 views

  •
It may surprise you to discover that there are over 100 different sub species of deer in the world. They live in all locations except for Antarctica where it is too cold. As the name of this animal tells us, the White Tailed Deer is one that has a patch of white that is located around the area of its tail. The main points/the different species listed on this site are white tailed deer, red deer, caribou/reindeer, moose, water deer, common muntjac, axis deer/chital deer, elk, sika deer, elds deer, sambar deer, visayan spotted deer, fallow deer, key deer, mule deer, pampas deer, pudu, roe deer, and extinct species. The purpose of this site is to list all the species of deer. Some topics and issues covered are, why the deer is called what it is, unique features, size, other names, fawns, etc. The topics and issues covered are a few characteristics of each species. If someone asked what this webpage is about, I would say it briefly explains the 100+ different species of deer. This source was useful because it informed me of all the different species of deer in the world and some of their characteristics. Compared to other sources I have used, this article lists many types of species but is less descriptive about each individual species as they are brief. This information is reliable because it comes from a legitimate source called BioExpedition. There is a use policy at the bottom of the website that says this source can be used by students and teachers for school projects and homework. I would recommend this source for people looking to learn more about the many species of deer. This source was helpful to me because it showed me all the different species of deer and is focused on my current area of study - deer. It helps me direct my learning by giving me more material to focus on in class and at home. I can use this source to identify deer species when I'm out in the wilderness by their recognizable characteristics explained in this source. It has change

Sleeping Brains Can Process and Respond to Words - 0 views

  •
Summary: In this article the main focus is the amazing things that people's brains can do, but specifically that even when we're sleeping, our brains can process and respond to words! This has been a theory of many people for the past hundreds of years, and now it's been proven. One of the people who was subject to this was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, whose mother would wake him up in the dead of night, and would give him music lessons then, when his brain was awake and free of distractions, and from there, Mozart could do nothing but absorb the information being embedded in his brain. And the knowledge about being able to understand words in your sleep could change the way people learn languages and study for exams. For example, if you go to sleep listening to a language learning tape, you will comprehend the bulk of the words in theory, and by default, will be learning in your sleep!

Music Theory Website: - 1 views

  •
Summarize: This is a music theory website which I used for a music composition course that I was taking. Common chord progressions was just one of the lessons from the website that I used. In this article that I used the main points were major and minor chord progressions. The purpose of this article is to show what chords most often progress from one chord to the next and the different chords that progress in a major vs. minor key. The theory website has many topics ranging from the basics: dotted rhythms to harder more complex things: cadences and neapolitan chords. They are all very nicely ordered and categorized if you have any specific things that you need to know about. Once you have selected a topic of interest a paragraph appears on the screen. There are two arrows at the bottom that allow the reader to read the page a sentence at a time along with the model that explains what you are reading. It is almost like a PowerPoint but you control the speed at which it moves. Review and access: This is a useful source, because the website explains everything in a clear and easy to understand way. There are pictures to guide your learning. When using other resources I find that they are hard to follow because of their advanced musical terms. Also, the models on other websites often go with one part of the paragraphs and not the other so it gets confusing. The information on this site is reliable, because we used it in class to learn some of the musical terms in each lesson. I would recommend anyone who wants, needs or just likes learning about music theory to use this website as a tool. Reflect: This source was super helpful for me and I accessed it many times throughout my composition course when I was confused on a certain topic, word or structure of song. This site helped me direct my learning because it is very organized and I could find the exact topic that I was looking for. You can use this source as a reference to terms or musical topics, or use it as notes

Climate Change in Italy - 0 views

  •
I used this website recently when working on a climate change project for Italy. Most of my time spent researching was at this site because it is very organized and has so much information. There are twenty subtopics that range from what is climate change to the impacts of climate change in Italy. The purpose of this website, even though it is called Climate Change in Italy is to speak to people throughout the world and inform them on the consequences of too much CO2. This site was very useful for me because there was a lot of information in each of the categories. The only drawback with this website is that it goes really in-depth, so if you want to know a specific thing about Italy Climate Change then you may want to choose a new source. The information is definitely reliable seeing as I have compared it to other sources and I would recommend this site to people who want to know about climate change in Italy or Europe in general. I used this source for a project and it was very useful, so I would suggest people who want to use it as well to use it specifically for research. This website helped me look at climate change on a smaller scale: Italy (it really zoned in on the specific climates in Italy).

Aromatherapy - 0 views

  •
I was introduced to this website when I began my Human Development final project on aromatherapy. This site is the best one that I have come across throughout all of my research; it is very organized and there is just so much information. The main headers are aromatherapy articles, aromatherapy recipes, carrier oil profiles, essential oil profiles, hydrosol profiles and aromatherapy books. The purpose of this article is to give you information about what essential oils are and how to use them. I think that this is an amazing source; it starts at the very basics and becomes more complex as you continue. Not only does it tell you about a bunch of oils and their health benefits but it shows you how to make your own aromatherapy recipes. The aromatherapy web is definitely accurate because there are a bunch of people who work on it and I'm sure that they would correct each other if anyone made a mistake. I would recommend this source to anyone who wants to research aromatherapy or who wants to try it. Because this website was so organized it was easy for me to answer my questions. This site helped me to expand my knowledge on aromatherapy and think about all the natural ways of healing.

Bill Nye vs. Ken Ham - 1 views

  •
This debate has been a very popular and controversial subject over the past weeks since it was aired. Ken Ham represents the christian, old testament, view of creationism and debates Bill Nye, who defends the theory of evolution, and the earth being 4 billion years old. The premise of Ken Hams argument is that there is a large misconception in modern science, in which "historical science" is studied in he same way as "observational science." His claim is that scientists cannot make claims about the age of the earth or "the past" solely by observing the present. Bill Nye tries to prove his own point that observational science and historical science are in the same category of study, and that the only way to make conclusions about the past, present or future is by observing the natural earth as it is now. Nye also makes a strong effort to disprove the old testament's claim that the earth is only 6,000 years old, and that during Noah's Ark there in fact was a global flood. The debate is extremely thought provoking, no matter who you agree with coming into it. This particular debate is at the core of my ILO focus, and I recommend it to anyone who is interested in the idea of creation.

Writing Generators - 0 views

  •
I used this article because I was looking for some inspiration to write a play. Turns out, this website was the just the thing I needed. The random generators are really helpful when you can't think of something interesting for a character you are writing about. There are plot, character, title, and name generator included in this website. I used these generators to come up with character names and even some different interesting things about my characters. They are super helpful when you are stuck or your story needs a lift! This is very different from other sources I have use because it is not an article, but a generator. I would highly recommend this source!

Anatomy of the Brain Quiz - 0 views

This source is an online quiz. I found it helpful in terms of studying and memorizing the different sections of the brain. Of each question there is a diagram of the brain labeled with numbers and the objective is to match the numbers to the corresponding area of the brain. This is different from other sources I have used because the source is an online quiz, not an article. I still learned a lot from it though. This source has helped me to realize that the brain is quite complicated and that it is time consuming to memorize the different parts of the brain. I would highly recommend this article because it is fun to take this quiz and see what you know (or don't know) about the human brain.
