There are a significant number of genetics curriculum resources designed by different companies, curriculum development outlets, state curriculum designers and individual teachers. What resources are good? How do you know? As part of the Geneticist-Educator Network of Alliances (GENA) Project, a Curriculum Content Review Committee was formed to review readily available classroom resources about patterns of inheritance. On this page we have compiled resources for educators to use in the classroom.  The first section consists of modules developed at NESCent.  "Other Curriculum Resources" includes a list of various resources ranging from single lessons, to books, to computer simulations.  The "Audio and Video Lecture" section has links to single lectures, interviews, and science shows.  Some are are audio only while others include video.

iKeepSafe is dedicated to the education of families on how to stay safe online. That's why we've teamed up with Google to develop curriculum that educators can use in the classroom to teach what it means to be a responsible digital citizen. The curriculum is designed to be interactive, discussion filled and allow students to learn through hands-on and scenario activities. Each workshop contains a resource booklet for both educators and students that can be downloaded in PDF form, presentations to accompany the lesson and animated videos to help frame the conversation.

Over the years, many teachers have told us that these films seen on NATURAL HEROES offer a valuable resource for the classroom. To help more teachers and students take advantage of the rich content of these timely stories, we have developed a 46-page classroom guide consisting of 6 projects aligned to common core to accompany these films. We also have included interactive links to additional resources and short video selections from the films to use with your students.

We're taking a systems approach to learning about the Earth using real scientific data. Our goal is to design easy-to-use curriculum activities and simple, intuitive computer interfaces for accessing online data. It's all part of a NOAA-supported effort called the NODE Project.

Teaching biology creates many opportunities to authentically incorporate student curiosity. The Next-Generation Science Standards (NGSS) expect students to ask questions about natural phenomena and then explain their answers using models. This website offers examples of adapting curriculum to NGSS and gender-inclusive standards, as well as resources for advocating to administration and others.

The TEP Clearinghouse is an online compendium of science resources within targeted states. Laboratory-based programming at the state, national, and virtual level is highlighted, as well as public / private partnerships that are cost effective, replicable, scalable, and assessable. The Clearinghouse is available cost free to any teacher and all content listed is free to access and use in the classroom.  Over 1,200 resources have been identified to date.

The majority of these lessons have been created through CPET programs by teachers and graduate students, but also lessons used by CPET during the programs as well as best practices that teachers have contributed to our collection.

Standards-based units, lesson plans, instructional guides and project based learning designs model the integration of content, learning skills and technology standards, research-based instructional strategies, differentiated instruction and rich classroom assessments, including a culminating performance, product or project with an accompanying rubric.
