Teach Digital: Curriculum by Wes Fryer wiki / safedsn - 0 views

  •
Wes Fryers' great wiki containing links to Proactive Approaches to Address Cyberbullying. Quote "Schools must be proactive, rather than merely defensive, in helping students acquire the skills of digital citizenship needed today and in the future. Simply banning read/write web tools on school networks is an inadequate response: Educators must strive to learn alongside students and parents how these technologies can be safely and powerfully used to communicate and collaborate."

The Monster Project encourages the development of reading and writing skills while integrating technology into the classroom. Using monsters as a vehicle, students exchange written descriptions via this wiki, and then recreate their partner's monster without ever looking at the "real thing". During the project, students create, discuss, describe, interpret, analyze, organize and assess their monsters as well as the monsters of their peers.

  • Robotics is fast becoming an integral part of the school curriculum with it's ability to integrate across a broad range of topics, most notably the Technology, Science and Math Key Learning Areas. Robotics encourages kids to think creatively, analyse situations and apply critical thinking and problem solving skills to real world problems. Teamwork and co-operation are a cornerstone of any robotics project. Students learn it is acceptable to make mistakes, especially if it leads them to better solutions. Robotics is a fun and engaging way to teach fundamental technology, maths and science concepts.
