Fatal flaws in website censorship plan, says report - web - Technology - 0 views

  • Professor Landfeldt, one of Australia's leading telecommunications experts, says some of the fundamental flaws of the scheme raised in his report include: All filtering systems will be easily circumvented using readily available software. Censors maintaining the blacklist will never be able to keep up with the amount of new content published on the web every second. Filters using real-time analysis of sites to determine whether content is inappropriate are not effective, capture wanted content, are easy to bypass and slow network speeds exponentially as accuracy increases. Entire user-generated content sites such as YouTube and Wikipedia could be blocked over a single video or article. Filters would be costly and difficult to implement for ISPs and put many smaller ISPs out of business. While the communciations authority's blacklist would be withheld from internet users, all 700 ISPs would have access to it, so it could easily be leaked. The filters would not censor content on peer-to-peer file sharing networks such as LimeWire, chat rooms, email and instant messaging; ISPs and the Government could be legally liable for the scheme's failures, particularly as content providers have no right to appeal against being blocked unnecessarily.

Fun and games - 1 views

"VIDEO games have become one of the most notable features of our culture, yet the industry receives relatively scant attention in mainstream media. This is not only curious, it is unfortunate; because many parents and carers and educators remain unnecessarily wary of this crucible of creativity. The reach of these games is expanding with the take-up of smartphones and tablet computers. A recent study by the head of media communications and technology at Bond University, Jeffrey Brand, found that about 95 per cent of Australian children under 15 play video games."

What Good Teachers Need - 7 views

  •
I DON'T think I am a very good teacher, but I try. Some of my students think I am but I don't trust their small experience. Some adults think I am but they've never been in my classes. Frankly, I'm not absolutely sure what a good teacher is. The descriptors are vague anyway: ''has empathy'', ''knows the subject'', ''inspires'' - the more you think about such things the faster they turn to quicksand.

"It's as strong as steel and tough as a bulletproof vest, capable of withstanding the same amount of pressure it takes to turn carbon into a diamond. Scientists have discovered nature's newest, strongest material, and it comes from . . . a sea snail."

Inksaver offers the lowest prices on toner cartridges and ink cartridges in South Africa Depending on your HP printer, it may integrate printheads within the printer or a part of the printer cartridge. Type 1: Cartridges with integrated printheads Integrated printer cartridges have a printhead integrated into them, and this design incorporates the printhead (nozzle plate) into the cartridge's side. If you are having trouble with a particularly streaky cartridge, replacing it with a brand-new cartridge will typically fix your print quality issue since every time you return one of these printer cartridges, you are also replacing the printhead. The Deskjet 1112 and the ENVY 7855 are two less expensive Deskjet and ENVY printer types that frequently use HP's integrated printer cartridges. https://inksaver12.wixsite.com/inksaver-printer-ink/post/what-are-the-types-of-hp-printheads https://inksaver.co.za/collections/pantum https://inksaver.co.za
