This blog is the collected thoughts of school administrators that want to share best practices in education. All of the authors have different experiences in education but all have the same goal; ensuring we do what is best for studentsþff.

The Partnership has forged alliances with key national organizations that represent the core academic subjects, including Social Studies, English, Math, Science and Geography. As a result of these collaborations, the Partnership has developed this map to illustrate the intersection between 21st Century Skills and English. The maps will enable educators, administrators and policymakers to gain concrete examples of how 21st Century Skills can be integrated into core subjects.

The LG Text Ed program brings together an advisory council of leading child behavior and health experts who examine important issues related to tweens, teens, and mobile phone use. Parents can gain valuable information from our Advisory Council as well as monthly articles, tips, videos, and other helpful resources on this web site. Welcome! I am Jeff Thomas and I have been an educator for 30 years, most recently as a Director of Technology at a private middle school. I am currently consulting on edtech integration in the classroom.

The Initiative believes that the more that is discovered about how the brain works and the various motives which drive human behaviour, the more we are convinced that education has to be about much more than intellectual development, and that learning and schooling are certainly not necessarily synonymous. What politicians and commentators in many lands describe as being "a crisis in schools" is, we believe, better understood as a crisis in society's commitment to young people. All this is aggravated by a materialistic agenda that degrades the spiritual needs of individuals and nations to the single minded drive towards economic profitability.

This site is devoted to teaching educators how to use podcasts and vodcasts to increase student achievement. This is the brainchild of Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams who are pioneers in the field of using vodcasts in the classroom. They have devised a new method of teaching called Pre-Vodcasting. In this model, students watch vodcasts at home and class time is spent in engaging hands-on activities and directed problem solving.

Join Howard Rheingold and other noted educators in creating a world-class resource for teaching critical thinking and Internet literacies. We are building a framework in the pages linked in the menu to the left. TPCK Talking about technology integration in the classroom, let alone implementing it, can be difficult initially. It's a complex topic with a lot of nuance. Overly focusing on technology can lead to use which doesn't support learning and SOLs which is a waste of everyone's time and energy. The TPCK model clarifies things. It honors key elements of a great classroom. Technology, pedagogy and content knowledge. The overlap of these three components is where the 21st Century classroom is most powerful.

This is a nice elementary math website created by a teacher and his students.

This link is to a short teacher developed clip of how easy it can be to make a screen cast using TechSmith's Camtasia. This teacher uses it to make Math video's for his class. I'll post another link to his site in a minute. I've used the software myself several times, it's comprehensive yet easy to use. Imagine how wonderful it would be for your students if you made these short Screencast lessons and posted them to an online class like Moodle, which we use in Central Square! Your class could then refer back to the virtual version of you teaching your lesson, whenever they needed it! Talk about reinforcement! Design Thinking is a methodology that teaches children to creatively solve problems in their lives. We believe that creative confidence comes from repeated practice using a human-centered creative process to solve problem scenarios called design challenges. After using the process on these challenges, they will have another tool, the design thinking process, to apply towards solving real life problems. We hope you use this space to find and share resources to teach design thinking. This is still a working prototype, so feel free to explore and change.
