By making it easy to teach online, Udemy also brings together the best teachers on the internet in an effort to educate the world. That means if you want to learn Multivariable Calculus, you can. If you want to learn Photoshop, you can. If you want to learn more about the metaphor for good and evil as presented by the dark and light colors in Star Wars, you can on Udemy.

This site is devoted to teaching educators how to use podcasts and vodcasts to increase student achievement. This is the brainchild of Jonathan Bergmann and Aaron Sams who are pioneers in the field of using vodcasts in the classroom. They have devised a new method of teaching called Pre-Vodcasting. In this model, students watch vodcasts at home and class time is spent in engaging hands-on activities and directed problem solving.

Design Thinking is a methodology that teaches children to creatively solve problems in their lives. We believe that creative confidence comes from repeated practice using a human-centered creative process to solve problem scenarios called design challenges. After using the process on these challenges, they will have another tool, the design thinking process, to apply towards solving real life problems. We hope you use this space to find and share resources to teach design thinking. This is still a working prototype, so feel free to explore and change.

It is a "new way to organize , share your online life and discover that of others".Teachers will no longer need to worry about long urls being broken when copied by students . SymbalooEdu lets you gather all of your favorite websites into a webmix about the topics you teach. These webmixes can be shared with friends, students, and parents.  

So by 2020, uses of technologies will change some aspects of teaching and learning but schools and classrooms will be clearly recognizable to students' parents and grandparents. Online instruction will continue to expand incrementally but will still be peripheral to regular K-16 schooling. End of prediction.

Projects are looking at learning in virtual worlds, through game design, with mobile devices, and through the interactions in social networks-in and out of school. Resources support new school design, including a model based on the principles of game design that shape and inform all aspects of teaching and learning.

What we should be teaching our kids...

Freshman in high school writes this blog...amazing. This is what our kids can be doing...talk about writing skills, communication skills, creativity, passion, self-directedness...c'mon, people! If I could go back to teaching....

A day to remind ourselves and our students that citizenship means asking questions, finding answers and standing up for what you believe in... and that education must mean that too. Every classroom, every student, every school... draft a declaration of educational rights. When it comes to education, what are the truths you hold self evident? Let's make time to talk about these ideas within our learning communities. Then, let's document these truths, and continue the hard work of making a high quality public education accessible to all who want it.

This link is to a short teacher developed clip of how easy it can be to make a screen cast using TechSmith's Camtasia. This teacher uses it to make Math video's for his class. I'll post another link to his site in a minute. I've used the software myself several times, it's comprehensive yet easy to use. Imagine how wonderful it would be for your students if you made these short Screencast lessons and posted them to an online class like Moodle, which we use in Central Square! Your class could then refer back to the virtual version of you teaching your lesson, whenever they needed it! Talk about reinforcement!
