The USAID Research and Innovation Fellowships aim to build a sustainable model for knowledge exchange by connecting bright American minds with key in-country organizations to collaboratively apply science, technology, and innovation to complex development challenges. The Fellowships offer unique opportunities for Fellows to provide critical research and technical expertise to exciting, progressive projects and initiatives with tangible and finite goals. Additionally, the Fellowships allow for complementary program design, incorporating the needs of the host organization within the scope of the Fellows' existing studies and research. Ultimately, the Fellowships hope to foster stronger human networks and improve sharing of organizational best practices under the umbrella of science, technology, and innovation for stronger development. The Fellowships will be piloted in seven initial countries: Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Senegal, and South Africa. Through a partnership with the U.S. National Science Foundation, and drawing upon the university resources of the Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN), USAID will fund over 300 Fellows in 2014.

Academic scholars (including graduate students), independent scholars and professional and non-professional writers are encouraged to apply. Awards would provide a maximum of $1,000 and can be used to offset travel expenses and other research related activities excluding large equipment purchases. The applicant should state clearly the research topic and chronological period to be covered in the study. In addition, the applicant should state whether the research project is for a degree program or a manuscript being prepared for publication. The grant is designed to promote interest in the prisoner of war experience and encourage scholarly research which leads to documentation of the prisoner of war experience in a variety of media including theses, publications and audiovisual productions. Especially encouraged are projects that cover subjects not well represented in the published record. This includes an administrative history of the park from the Civil War to the present, prisoners of war during early conflicts in American history, individual prisoner of war camps and the experiences of minorities as prisoners of war.Subject matter can also extend to relevant aspects of the prisoner of war experience, such as the families of POWs and the guards at prisoner of war camps.

BARBARA WERTHEIMER PRIZE IN LABOR HISTORY To recognize serious study in labor and work history among undergraduate students, the New York Labor History Association annually awards the Barbara Wertheimer Prize for the best research paper written during the previous academic year. Wertheimer was a leading labor educator and scholar. BERNARD BELLUSH PRIZE The Bernard Bellush Prize recognizes outstanding scholarship by graduate students in labor and work history. The Bellush Prize honors the contribution to labor history made by Bernie Bellush, as a scholar and as an activist. Both the Bellush and Wertheimer Prize provide an award of $250 for the best research paper written during the 2014-2015 academic year. An abstract of each paper will be posted on the NYLHA website. Please encourage your graduate and undergraduate students to submit their work. Entries will be evaluated on the basis of scholarship and literary merit.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking applications under its Graduate Research Fellowship (GRF) Program. This program provides awards to accredited universities for doctoral research that uses criminal justice data or statistical series and focuses on crime, violence, and other criminal justice-related topics. BJS invests in doctoral education by supporting universities that sponsor students who demonstrate the potential to complete doctoral degree programs successfully in disciplines relevant to the mission of BJS, and who are in the final stages of graduate study. The ultimate goal of this solicitation is to increase the pool of researchers using criminal justice statistical data generated by BJS, thereby contributing solutions that better prevent and control crime and help ensure the fair and impartial administration of criminal justice in the United States. Applicant institutions sponsoring doctoral students are eligible to apply only if the doctoral research dissertation has direct implications for criminal justice policy and practice in the United States. BJS encourages institutions to consider doctoral students from social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, or statistics academic disciplines for their applications. Applicant institutions are strongly encouraged to sponsor minority and female student candidates. Awards are anticipated to be made to successful applicant institutions in the form of a cooperative agreement to cover a fellowship for the sponsored doctoral student. Each fellowship potentially provides up to 3 years of support, usable over a 5-year period. For each year of support, BJS provides the degree-granting institution a stipend of $35,000, usable toward the student's salary and related costs, and up to $15,000 to cover the student's tuition and fees, research expenses, and related costs (see B. BLM Utah has youth funding available to work with qualified youth conservation corps for the purposes of introducing youth and young adults to careers in the BLM and assist in fulfilling our mission. BLM is interested in working with youth and young adults to complete conservation projects that enhance the students classroom learning by providing them opportunities to gain experience, learn about public lands, further their understanding and appreciation of natural and cultural resources, and pique their interest in natural resource careers. Young men and women who participate in the rehabilitation and restoration of our nationÿfds natural, cultural, historic, archaeological, recreational, comprehensive environmental field studies and service programs that advance ecological literacy, conservation, and environmental research in the areas of public land restoration, forestry, range, trail work and scenic treasures will gain an increased appreciation and understanding of our public lands and of the value of public service, and are likely to become life-long advocates for those values.

The explosion of the digital age has made it possible for students anywhere to take advantage of the unique opportunity to become part of this fascinating and rewarding project by completing an internship through the Theodore Roosevelt Center. Dedicated Center staff members mentor students and provide them with valuable experience prior to entering the workforce. Our interns are a vital part of our work here at the Theodore Roosevelt Center. They hail from all over and study in some of the best library science and history programs in the country. They help Center staff catalog items, review items, and conduct copyright research, and they provide valuable input into some of the ongoing projects of the Center. They have worked in every collection in the Theodore Roosevelt Digital Library to date. Internships are usually posted in the early spring, and students complete their work between May and August. These are remote internships. All work is done online, from the student's preferred location.

The purpose of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum Research Grant is to encourage the study of Wisconsin's role in American military history by facilitating the use of the museum's collections. Recipients will be scholars at the graduate, postgraduate, or instructor/professor level; or be other professional scholars or authors; or have comparable qualifications based on experience. They will be writing theses, dissertations, articles for scholarly peer reviewed journals, or books on significant subjects that are well supported in the WVM collections. The grant will be provided in the form of a $500 honorarium to support research expenses at the WVM (travel, lodging, meals, copying).

The new PhD Scholarship from the Institute for Humane Studies awards $1,500 to entering and currently enrolled graduate students in doctoral programs doing work in the humanities and social sciences, particularly economics, history, philosophy and political science in the 2015-2016 academic year.

The Commission on Women and Gender Studies in Science, Technology and Medicine of the DHST offers biannually a research travel fellowship up to 1000€ to scholars who are either in their final stages of their doctoral research or in the early stages of their post-doctoral research but still within four years of receiving the Ph.D. The research fellowship named by the first female physician and midwife in ancient Greece (4th c. B.C.) is intended to recognize and support the work of scholars who are in the early stages of their careers and assist those who need to travel to archives in order to complete their research.

EES offers residential research scholar grants to scholars working on policy relevant projects on the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology.

Proposed fellowships must fit the Grant Foundation's research interests. The foundation currently supports research to understand and improve the everyday settings of youth in the United States. Specifically, the foundation funds studies that enhance the understanding of how youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they can be improved; and when, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practice that affect youth, and how its use can be improved.

The College of Philology at the Westfälische Wilhelms-University in Münster is looking for interested and qualified international doctoral candidates in the area of Literary Studies starting October 1st 2015. The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center offers undergraduates the chance to explore clinical and basic science research in laboratories in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The primary goal is to provide students with a foundation for making career choices in the biomedical sciences. Students have the opportunity to work with one of more than 700 faculty members at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, many of whom have active research programs that cover all areas of pediatric medicine, including the study of developmental biology, congenital disorders, genetic diseases, cancer, cardiology, neurology and immunology.

The International Foundation for Ethical Research supports the development, validation, and implementation of innovative scientific methodologies that advance science and replace the use of animals in research, testing, and education. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for the IFER Graduate Fellowship Program from graduate students whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Grants of up $15,000 will be awarded to students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs in the sciences or human/veterinary medicine to support the development of alternatives to the use of animals in research, testing, and education. Fellowships are renewable annually for up to three years. Continued funding is dependent on student progress and the availability of funds. Fellowships will be considered for graduate students in fields such as education, psychology, humanities, journalism, and the law for projects that show promise to increase public awareness or promote changes in the legal system or public policy regarding the use of animals in research, testing, and education. The Society and Mental Health Division announces the 2015 Graduate Student Paper Competition. Papers should involve an empirical analysis, either qualitative or quantitative, dealing with any aspect of the sociology of mental health. To be eligible, a paper must have been written during 2014 or 2015, and it may not be published or accepted for publication. Papers that have been presented at a professional meeting, submitted for presentation at a professional conference, or are under review for publication are eligible. Papers must be student-authored. They may be single authored by the student or co-authored by more than one student, but may not be co-authored by a faculty member or other nonstudent. Papers must not exceed 28 pages including all notes, references, and tables. Please note that your paper may only be submitted to one division competition. To submit your paper for consideration, please send the following three materials via e-mail to Elbert Almazan at Central Michigan University ( almaz1ep@cmich.edu ): (1) your paper, (2) a cover letter indicating that you are submitting your paper for the competition; and (3) a letter from your advisor that certifies your graduate-student status and offers some brief comments about your work. In addition, authors are required to submit their papers through the annual meeting Call for Papers online system. The winner will be announced at the 2015 Annual Meeting and will receive a $100 cash award, a plaque of recognition, student membership, and conference registration.

o honor a long-time member and past president of the Society for Reformation Research, the society offers the Miriam Usher Chrisman Travel Fellowship of $2000 every other year in odd-numbered years to doctoral students who need to travel abroad to do research for their dissertations. The award competition is open to all students of European studies, ca. 1450-1650, whose dissertations deal with religion or the Reformation in some significant way. All geographic and confessional concentrations are eligible, and students just beginning their archival research as well as those finishing are encouraged to apply. The purpose of the award is to help defray the expenses of working abroad. Applicants should provide a 3-5 pp. description of their research projects, which must include when and where they plan to use the fellowship. (This description should be double-spaced with 1" margins and 12-point type.) Applicants should keep in mind that just sending in a dissertation prospectus is insufficient, as the selection committee wants to know more specifically how the fellowship will be used and how the funds will help the applicants complete their dissertations. Applicants should also provide a curriculum vitae and ask their dissertation advisers to submit a letter of recommendation. All materials should be sent directly via email as attachments (in MS Word or as a pdf) to Beth Plummer beth.plummer@wku.edu, the Recording Officer of the society. She will then forward all materials to the Chrisman selection committee appointed by the current President of the society.  The Recording Officer must receive all materials by Monday, March 2, 2015.

The National Academy of Education advances high-quality education research and its use in policy formation and practice. Founded in 1965, the academy comprises United States members and foreign associates who are elected on the basis of outstanding scholarship related to education. Since its establishment, NAEd has undertaken research studies that address pressing issues in education typically conducted by members and other scholars with relevant expertise.

Purpose of Program: The GAANN Program provides grants to academic departments and programs of institutions of higher education (IHEs) to support graduate fellowships for students with excellent academic records who demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue the highest degree available in their course of study at the institution.

Founded in 1956, the Chicago-based Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts provides project-based grants to individuals and organizations and produces public programs to foster the development and exchange of diverse and challenging ideas about architecture and its role in the arts, culture, and society.
