The Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture announces its annual call for papers for the Charles Hughes Fellowship and the John Spiegel Fellowship in Cultural Psychiatry. The Charles Hughes Fellowship is an annual award presented to a graduate student who has an interest in and commitment to cultural psychiatry and mental health. The John Spiegel Fellowship is an annual award presented to a resident in clinical training who is dedicated to improving clinical care through culturally-informed practice.

Anthropological research spans a wide gamut, and contemporary cultural anthropology is an arena in which diverse research traditions and methodologies are valid. Recognizing the breadth of the field's contributions to science, the Cultural Anthropology Program welcomes proposals for empirically grounded, theoretically engaged, and methodologically sophisticated research in all sub-fields of cultural anthropology. Because the National Science Foundation's mandate is to support basic research, the NSF Cultural Anthropology Program does not fund research that takes as its primary goal improved clinical practice or applied policy. A proposal that uses anthropological methods to understand a social problem but does not propose to make a theory-testing and/or theory expanding contribution to anthropology will be returned without review.

The CHM master is a one year program in partnership with the Unesco Chair in Cultural Tourism and Development at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne under the direction of Prof. Fekri Hassan and Prof. Maria Gravari-Barbas. Its third edition will be offered from October the 7th 2013. Scholarships are available for candidate sending their cv, scanned copy of degree documents and motivation letter stating clearly that they apply for the scholarship!Please email your documents to heritagemaster@ufe.edu.eg before June the 23rd. It includes a variety of topics related to cultural heritage management structured in core courses and specialised courses in 1.Cultural Tourism, 2.Museum Studies, 3.Architectural and Urban Heritage. All courses and course materials are in English and address a public of graduated and professionals working in the field of heritage. Lessons are offered during three afternoons per week and often a field trip during the Saturdays is organised to combine an on site experience with the theoretical data. A summer internship has to be undertaken as integral part of the curriculum during the summer semester and at the conclusion of the courses a research master thesis will be presented in an oral examination session in front of a mixed commission of Egyptian and French experts and professors.

The Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies (of the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy) offers educational and professional development opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing further education and careers in academia, diplomacy, government, and/or the private sector. Following the successes of the two Masters programmes offered by the Faculty of Visual Culture at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, a scholarship worth full tuition fees will be awarded to a student on either the MA Art in the Contemporary World (Theory only) or the MA Design History and Material Culture. The Max-Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, Department of Religious Diversity in Göttingen is offering The Ph.D. fellowships are for 3-4 years. The dissertation will be defended at Utrecht University. The postdoctoral fellowships are for one or two years. The research will be done in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Ethnic and Cultural Diversity in China at Minzu University in Beijing. The projects have to be on the following topics: 1. Study of the relations between Yi and Miao in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Vietnam 2. Study of the effects on ethnic minorities of the opening up of S.W. China to S.E. Asia 3. The DISCONEX research group "The Discursive Construction of Academic Excellence. Classifying Academic Researchers in the Social Sciences and Humanities", led by Professor Johannes Angermuller (Centre for Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick) is looking for candidates for a funded PhD position at the crossroads of language and society. Against a background in poststructuralist and constructivist social theory, DISCONEX studies the cultures, practices and knowledges of academic researchers in the social sciences and humanities. By having recourse to qualitative methods, the group will empirically investigate the social uses of academic publications in the social sciences and humanities (for more details http://www.johannes-angermuller.net/DISCONEX, another two stipends will be available from the French partner institution, CEMS/EHESS). The PhD projects will be in the domain of the Social Sciences and Humanities Studies and should focus on the social dynamics of scientific communities in two interdisciplinary fields (for example in letters/linguistics/philosophy and in sociology/anthropology/media and culture studies, in English and possibly in French or German).

A program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program offers intensive summer language institutes in thirteen critical foreign languages. The selection process is administered by American Councils for International Education with awards approved by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

SASP and Division 16 support students from under-represented cultural backgrounds as they endeavor to become a part of the inspiring profession of School Psychology. SASP and Division 16 are aware of the financial pressures that graduate students experience and thus, through generous support from Division 16, the Diversity Scholarship Program was created to provide monetary support to aid students from diverse cultural backgrounds entering the field. SASP offers the following three awards each year for student support: two incoming student awards in the amount of $500 and an advanced student award in the amount of $1,000.

BLM Utah has youth funding available to work with qualified youth conservation corps for the purposes of introducing youth and young adults to careers in the BLM and assist in fulfilling our mission. BLM is interested in working with youth and young adults to complete conservation projects that enhance the students classroom learning by providing them opportunities to gain experience, learn about public lands, further their understanding and appreciation of natural and cultural resources, and pique their interest in natural resource careers. We are pleased to welcome American students to apply for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program to learn critical foreign languages next summer on a fully-funded study abroad program. The CLS Program is an intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American students enrolled at U.S. colleges and universities. Students spend eight to ten weeks abroad studying one of 15 critical languages. The program includes intensive language instruction and structured cultural enrichment experiences designed to promote rapid language gains.

The Franz Rosenzweig Minerva Research Center for German-Jewish Literature and Cultural History will award doctoral and post-doctoral research fellowships for 2014 Successful applicants will be expected to carry out their research work at the Franz Rosenzweig Minerva Center from January 2014 through June 2014. During this period the fellows are expected to conduct their research in Israel and to participate in the workshops, colloquia and all activities of the Rosenzweig Minerva Research Center.

The student will learn about developing a public program. The series they will be focusing on celebrates the legacy of Afro-Latinos in the United States. For example, Arturo Schomburg, a black Puerto Rican bibliophile who African-American scholars like Carter G. Woodson, The Father of African-American History, benefitted from his collection of Pan-African scholarly works. Summer 2013 - $6,000/400 hours {10-20 weeks}. We are looking for students (undergraduate or graduate) who are enrolled in a degree seeking program. Recent graduates (no earlier than January 15, 2013) are eligible to apply. *Goldman Sachs Multicultural Junior Fellows program targets applicants who are part of a U.S. minority group (i.e. African-American, Latino-American, Asian Pacific Islander-American, Native American). Applicants should have a background in African-American Studies, Latino Studies, American Studies, History or something closely related. They should be able demonstrate knowledge of Pan-African and or Pan-Latino history and culture or something closely related. Public program experience is highly regarded.

The Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Basel awards one doctoral scholarship in the fields of Modern Jewish History, Jewish Literature, Modern Jewish Intellectual History, or Jewish Cultural History per December 1st 2013 or by agreement. The award is specifically aimed at female applicants. Eligibility criteria: - an excellent higher university degree that qualifies for doctoral studies in Jewish Studies at the University of Basel - willingness to work at the Centre for Jewish Studies (apart from possible trips to archives etc.) - willingness to perform organisational and other tasks as part of the Centre team, possibly a teaching assignment Suggestions for a dissertation topic can be submitted along with the application but are not mandatory. Possible topics can also be discussed with the Centre administration if the scholarship is awarded to the applicant. A possible topic could be a project within the context of the intended collaboration of the Centre of Jewish Studies with the archive of the National Library of Israel. The scholarship will be awarded for 36 months and amounts to CHF 50'000 p.a. After 18 months of the intended funding period an interim report by the Centre administration on the status of the project will decide about the continued funding for the remaining duration of the stipend.

The award is designated for a graduate student who will be presenting a paper on British art or visual culture at an academic conference in 2014. The award of $750 is intended to offset travel costs. Applicants must be current members of HBA.
