1. American Dissertation Fellowships: Dissertation Fellowships offset a scholar's living expenses while she completes her dissertation. The fellowship must be used for the final year of writing the dissertation. Applicants must have completed all course work, passed all preliminary examinations, and received approval for their research proposals or plans by the preceding November. Students holding fellowships for writing a dissertation in the year prior to the AAUW fellowships year are not eligible. The program is open to applicants in all fields of study. Scholars engaged in science, technology, engineering, and math fields or researching gender issues are especially encouraged to apply. 2. American Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowships: Postdoctoral Research Leave Fellowships are designed to assist scholars in obtaining tenure and other promotions by enabling them to spend a year pursuing independent research. The primary purpose of the fellowship is to increase the number of women in tenure-track faculty positions and to promote equality for women in higher education. Tenured professors are not eligible. 3. American Summer/Short-Term Research Publication Grants: Summer/Short-Term Research Publication grants provide funds for women, college and university faculty and independent researchers to prepare research for publication. Time must be available for eight consecutive weeks of final writing and editing in response to issues raised in critical reviews. These grants can be awarded to both tenure-track and part-time faculty, and new and established researchers. The grants are designed to assist the candidate in obtaining tenure and other promotions. Tenured professors are not eligible.

The intent of the Junior Scientist Fellowship is two-fold: to provide funding for a first- or second-year graduate level project and to provide constructive feedback to select applicants to increase their chances of achieving success on a future National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship application. The primary intent is to recognize outstanding research-oriented students who are entering their first year (or first semester of second year) of graduate study and to help them get their research off the ground. Graduate students from research-based psychology and neuroscience programs are eligible to apply. The second intent of this fellowship is to provide written feedback to select applicants. Many students apply for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (eligibility requirements for the NSF fellowship) without ever having applied for a research fellowship. It is our intent to provide feedback to select applicants so that they can use that feedback to strengthen their NSF graduate fellowship application.

The research plan of each Fellowship must address scientific questions within the scope of AGS disciplines.  The program supports researchers for a period of up to 2 years with Fellowships that can be taken to the institution or national facility of their choice. The program is intended to recognize beginning investigators of significant potential, and provide them with experience in research that will broaden perspectives, facilitate interdisciplinary interactions and help establish them in leadership positions within the Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences community. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may begin any time between November 1, 2015, and November 1, 2016, and extend for up to two years.Grant Program Description Through fellowships to published translators, the Arts Endowment supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. We encourage translations of writers and of work that are not well represented in English translation. All proposed projects must be for creative translations of literary material into English. The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and value. The USAID Research and Innovation Fellowships aim to build a sustainable model for knowledge exchange by connecting bright American minds with key in-country organizations to collaboratively apply science, technology, and innovation to complex development challenges. The Fellowships offer unique opportunities for Fellows to provide critical research and technical expertise to exciting, progressive projects and initiatives with tangible and finite goals. Additionally, the Fellowships allow for complementary program design, incorporating the needs of the host organization within the scope of the Fellows' existing studies and research. Ultimately, the Fellowships hope to foster stronger human networks and improve sharing of organizational best practices under the umbrella of science, technology, and innovation for stronger development. The Fellowships will be piloted in seven initial countries: Brazil, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Senegal, and South Africa. Through a partnership with the U.S. National Science Foundation, and drawing upon the university resources of the Higher Education Solutions Network (HESN), USAID will fund over 300 Fellows in 2014.

The purpose of IFER's Fellowship Program is to provide financial incentives to graduate students in science that encourage them at the earliest stages of their career to integrate innovation and discovery with ethics and respect for animals. Fellowships are awarded to those candidates whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Graduate Fellowships to develop alternatives to the use of animals in research, testing and education are open to students enrolled in Master's and Ph.D. programs in the sciences, and human or veterinary medicine. Fellowships will also be considered for graduate students in other fields, such as education, psychology, humanities, journalism, and the law, for projects that show promise to increase public awareness or to promote changes in the legal system or public policy regarding the use of animals in research, testing, and education.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

The Directorate for Biological Sciences (BIO) awards Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology to recent recipients of the doctoral degree for research and training in selected areas supported by BIO and with special goals for human resource development in biology.  The fellowships encourage independence at an early stage of the research career to permit Fellows to pursue their research and training goals in the most appropriate research locations regardless of the availability of funding for the Fellows at that site.  For FY 2013, these BIO programs are (1) Broadening Participation in Biology; (2) Intersections of Biology and Mathematical and Physical Sciences and Engineering; (3) National Plant Genome Initiative Postdoctoral Research Fellowships; and (4) International Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in Biology.  These areas change periodically as new scientific and infrastructure opportunities present themselves. For this reason, this solicitation will be changed as necessary to reflect the areas being funded.

The Ohio Affiliate of  Prevent Blindness is accepting applications for its 2018 Young Investigator Student Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research. The Fellowship Program is designed to provide support for outstanding female scientists committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral or clinical research careers relevant to the mission of Prevent Blindness - to prevent blindness and preserve sight.  Grants will be awarded for the summer 2018 session.  Awards will range from $3000-$5000 depending upon the availability of funds. The deadline for receipt of applications is Feb. 15, 2018. Applicants must be post-baccalaureate students enrolled in a master's or doctorate program during the summer of 2018, female, citizens or permanent residents of the United States, and conducting their research with a recognized academic institution in the State of Ohio. Applications from diverse fields in the health sciences including, but not limited to ophthalmology, optometry, nursing, genetics, public health, nutrition, gerontology, and bioengineering, are appropriate to the goals of this fellowship award. The Ohio Affiliate of Prevent Blindness encourages fellowship applications which investigate public health issues related to the burden of eye-related health and safety topics.

The Society for the Study of Psychiatry and Culture announces its annual call for papers for the Charles Hughes Fellowship and the John Spiegel Fellowship in Cultural Psychiatry. The Charles Hughes Fellowship is an annual award presented to a graduate student who has an interest in and commitment to cultural psychiatry and mental health. The John Spiegel Fellowship is an annual award presented to a resident in clinical training who is dedicated to improving clinical care through culturally-informed practice.

The Israeli Inter-University Academic Partnership in Russian and East European Studies is offering a small number of highly competitive postdoctoral fellowships in the field of Russian and East European Studies for the 2014-2015 academic year. These fellowships are offered to researchers across all disciplines in the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, broadly defined, and will be awarded on the basis of academic excellence. Postdoctoral fellowships are offered to young scholars who have received their PhD degree no earlier than 2009 and no later than June 2014. The fellows will be selected by an international academic committee and then placed in one of the partner universities: Bar-Ilan University, Ben Gurion University of the Negev, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv University, University of Haifa. Postdoctoral fellows will be awarded up to 87,500 NIS per year (equivalent to approximately $25,000). In some cases, the fellowships will entail a teaching commitment at the host university.

The Filson fellowships and internships encourage the scholarly use of our nationally significant collections by providing support for travel and lodging. Internships provide practical experience in collections management and research for graduate students. Fellows as well as interns are expected to be in continuous residence at The Filson. Application deadlines for all fellowships and internships are October 15th and February 15th each year (or the Monday following the 15th if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday). Applications are reviewed two times a year. The Society's collections are especially strong for the frontier, antebellum, and Civil War eras of Kentucky history. The fellowships are designed to encourage research in all aspects of the history of Kentucky and the regions of the Ohio Valley and the Upper South. Applicants should indicate how The Filson's collections are relevant to their research topics and will have the opportunity to present the results of their research to scholars and the general public as appropriate. The Filson anticipates that fellows will publicize the results of their research in Ohio Valley History, a peer-reviewed journal published jointly by The Filson, the Cincinnati Museum Center, and the University of Cincinnati.

The APA-IUPsyS Global Mental Health Fellowship provides an opportunity for a psychologist to spend one year at the World Health Organization (WHO), in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, working on one or more issues related to the WHO Mental Health Action Plan. Pending funding approval in December 2014, the fellowship will provide a modest stipend for additional living costs in Geneva and fellowship-related travel that is intended to supplement the fellow's other, regular sources of income.

The B&O Railroad Museum (Museum) in Baltimore, Maryland invites applications for its 2015 Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program.   The SURF will commence on or about June 15, 2015 and culminate with the submission of a paper no later than December 15, 2015. The Hays T. Watkins Research Library and Archive at the Museum will be made available for your use but Fellows will be expected to use other local, regional and national repositories as well.   One Fellowship will be awarded in the six categories listed below. The stipend for each Fellowship is $2,000.00. One quarter of the stipend will be paid upon selection; the second quarter payment will be made on or around September 1, 2015 with the remainder of the stipend awarded upon submission of the research paper.   The research paper should reflect the result of successful original primary and secondary source research conducted by the Fellow and be no less than 5,000 words. The Fellow will grant non-exclusive unlimited use of the research and research paper to the B&O Railroad Museum, Inc. including permission to publish the paper on the Museum's blog.

The International Foundation for Ethical Research supports the development, validation, and implementation of innovative scientific methodologies that advance science and replace the use of animals in research, testing, and education. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for the IFER Graduate Fellowship Program from graduate students whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Grants of up $15,000 will be awarded to students enrolled in master's and doctoral programs in the sciences or human/veterinary medicine to support the development of alternatives to the use of animals in research, testing, and education. Fellowships are renewable annually for up to three years. Continued funding is dependent on student progress and the availability of funds. Fellowships will be considered for graduate students in fields such as education, psychology, humanities, journalism, and the law for projects that show promise to increase public awareness or promote changes in the legal system or public policy regarding the use of animals in research, testing, and education.
